(The past week has been very difficult as you may have guessed from my silence. The longer I waited to write, the worse the procrastination became. Please accept my apologies in advance for the tardiness of this post.)

In the last blog post I wrote about the diet I was undertaking and how I needed to see some tangible results if that specific plan would work for me long term.

I’ve been silent for two reasons. Perhaps I shared my original “solution” prematurely, as what I was doing wasn’t working for me. The last thing I want to do is lead anyone astray or point down the wrong road.

I ate just fruits and veggies for a week and discovered that lifestyle is not for me. Just like we all have different thoughts, dreams and opinions, I believe we’re all a bit different physically too. What is perfect for one may not be perfect for another.

On day 7 and day 8 I became very sick. I am a very healthy person and really can’t remember the last time I was so ill. Maybe my body really loved this new diet, but it felt as if it were revolting against my decision. Either way, I decided to honor my body and ate some rice and some toast, which had me feeling better within hours.

Bottom line- after 9 days of fruits and veggies I was back to my original weight when I started more than a week before! Funny thing is, I never made it to 10 fruits and 10 veggies on any day. It was just too much food! I don’t have the patience to wait forever for results and I want to feel good!

Now here’s the good news…. I’m now losing weight and I feel better than ever!
I wanted to give this more than a week before I talked about it, just to make sure I could maintain it- and I’m convinced that I can.

In my search for a solution, I reached out to Dr. Karen Paquette, one of the most vibrant and healthy people I’ve ever met. Karen, a naturopathic doctor who specializes in weight loss, is known as “The Go Doctor”, for she helps people to stop being stopped. Her program is very similar to what I was already doing, with a few big additions.

Karen put me through a complete body analysis to determine what’s really going on inside of me. Like a detective, she searched for clues while I answered hundreds of questions. Then, she chose a detox program for me that is making a positive difference.

I’m still eating very healthy foods but I’m also supporting my body through this process with protein, vitamins and minerals, and that’s making all the difference for me.

Her program is a 3-month medically supervised and individualized weight loss program, beginning with a 28-day liver detoxification cleansing program. The purpose of this program is to cleanse my body and also jump-start the weight loss results. And it’s working!

I’m now down seven pounds from just two weeks ago. More importantly, I’m full of energy and I feel great! WooohoJumping Woman On Beachoooo!
Dr. Karen believes that when we are knowledgeable and empowered about our health and wellness, the weight just melts off naturally. I have to agree with her.

I’ve never felt more hopeful or healthier than I do today. On our walk this morning, Koda and I even ran for half of the time- and that’s huge for me, as I’m not a runner. I couldn’t stop myself as it just felt so good to run!

The habits are becoming engrained within my being. Each morning I’m now jumping out of bed, truly looking forward to going to play in Nature with Koda, as opposed to feeling forced to get out of bed and exercise.

When I’m hungry for something sweet, I’ve been splurging on our locally grown Flathead Lake Lambert cherries. Yum! Healthy habits are replacing the old ones. I have no craving for chocolate- and that’s something I never thought I’d say!

Life is good. Thank you for being so patient with me while I “went through my stuff”. I greatly appreciate your support and now feel like I can not only share this with you, but also encourage you to join me. Come on- life is too short to not feel alive in every moment!

Here are just three small things that you can do to improve your health:

– Drink more water! Our bodies need 1/2 our weight in ounces daily. In other words, if you weigh 200 pounds, drink 100 oz. of water daily. This doesn’t count coffee, tea or soft drinks.

– Replace an existing habit with one that will support your health. (i.e. replace the pre-dinner munchies with iced herbal tea and carrot sticks rather than cheese, crackers and wine, or replace dessert with fresh fruit)

– MOVE! Add exercise as a regular part of your daily routine, even if it’s just a walk daily. Add an extra few minutes each day until you look forward to it!

Just taking a baby step in this direction will improve your health. I look forward to hearing your success stories. Thank you again for sharing your comments below. I greatly appreciate you!

  1. Congratulations on the weight loss, I know how hard it is to lose and maintain it. I have started exercising for myself as well, I didn’t want another year to go by with me saying ‘I wish I had time to exercise’ I made time and I just do it, I am feeling better each day I incorporate it into my life. You are one of the many people who has inspired me in the past couple of weeks to finally start doing something about it, keep up the good work~!~
