I believe that “THANK YOU” could be the two most powerful words on the planet. Thank you. Just two little words but they contain an incredible amount of power to shift your world.

This morning my friend Elaine shared with me that she was disappointed by the response she received to gifts she gave to twenty friends. Of the twenty gifts given, she received one written thank you note. I jumped right in and shared with her that I’d sent out about twenty gifts also and I received only two thank you notes.

Feeling a bit self-righteous and judging the situation together, we questioned, “Don’t people know how much a thank you card means to the giver?” We questioned if email had killed handwritten thank you notes. We tried to rationalize that everyone did appreciate the gift, but that life is just too busy.

Then it finally hit us. Elaine had sent me one of the twenty gifts and I never sent her a written thank you note. Additionally, I sent her one of the gifts I sent out, and never received a written thank you from her either! We were the guilty ones that we were just discussing with one another! How to feel like pond scum in two seconds flat.

How judgmental we were until we realized it was us we were judging. Wow, does that shift things. They say the world is but a reflection of ourselves, and here was tangible proof. I was looking for the world to show up for me in a way that I wasn’t showing up for it.

With Thanksgiving only a week away, this is a timely reminder. I’m going to be grateful and make the time to acknowledge the people and the things in my life, by saying “THANK YOU”.

I’m filling today with gratitude and catching up on all of the delinquent thank you cards I’ve been meaning to write. There is so much to be grateful for! When I pause and think about who is making my life better, who is the friend that’s always there for me, who did something little for me that brought a smile to my face or who makes me laugh, I have a lot of cards to write.

I’m going to thank these very special people for being in my life. And rather than be overwhelmed by the number of folks on the list, I’m going to commit to sit down and write at least one handwritten note expressing my gratitude to at least one person today. Can you imagine how our lives would shift if we would write just one thank you note each day for the next year? Woohoo, bring it on!

Gratitude. Sounds like a prescription for a rich and blessed life. Best when used in combination with THANK YOU and shared daily.
p.s. Thank you for being in my life!
With love and hugs,

Gail
