Sometimes, we are in so much pain we forget that within that spiral of darkness, there is light. Sometimes we just need to step beyond our shadow, look at it, and see what it is attempting to tell us, teach us.

Spirals Of Light

The day I took this picture, I was playing with my shadows at a sand dune on a golf course and when I looked at my iPhone and saw the picture, it brought back waves of reflection of the days of youth where I was trapped within this shadow of fear, pain, and deep sorrow and loss.

The biggest “aha” in that moment was remembering that I always chose to find the light, no matter how dark it got.

We are amazingly strong-willed human beings with depths of compassion with inborn, innate love. When we can learn to let go of the situation, thank the situation, and move beyond the situation, an entire new spiral of life begins anew. Remember that  no matter what, tomorrow is a new day. Sometimes we get so stuck in a moment we forget that we can, if we choose to, walk away from that moment and move into a new one.

We don’t need to live in the past. We do need to move beyond the past with a new sense of self and awareness from the growth we experienced in the process. To regret the darkness is in a sense regretting you were born, for without those experiences you wouldn’t be who you are today.  To me, each day is a new “Happy Re-Birthday”.  Each day, no matter what is going on, is a new day to choose how I will either react or embrace and celebrate the new day.

Life is a limitless Kaleidoscope, a playground of sounds, textures, feelings, experiences and perceptions. Our imagination and creativity is the birthing place of all things possible.  Be willing to let the drama, hurt, pain of any and all situations go so that you can be open to new paths and choices.

At the end of the day, it is our attitude that will either make us or break us, lift us or drown us. We can either take things as feedback or criticism it is all a matter of perception.

Enjoy the Journey of life and use your experiences to empower, teach, and inspire others. There is always someone, somewhere just waiting to hear exactly at the precise moment what you have to say and share.

How many times have you read a book and went “OMG, I can so relate,” etc…. Never take for granted your experiences or wisdom, and never be afraid or embarrassed, because that very thing you withhold could be the very thing that could save somebody else’s life.

  1. Dear Carly,

Congratulations on writing such a beautiful post about the sunny side of life! I liked it tremendously and most of all, I loved the idea of living each day as a Happy Re-Birthday. 🙂

There are days when I realise that I am managing my emotions like a child. There is always something about my inner life that needs improvement. But I guess that’s what makes life exciting! 🙂

    1. Thanks Oana, and we are all human hence our inner child is going to come up kicking and screaming at times… LOL… The first step is the awareness, then comes choice even when sometimes it is a difficult choice… Enjoy the Journey

  2. Carly that was a very well written piece. When we are going through the worst times it is so easy to forget the “big” picture. Problems are temporary even if they don’t seem so at the time. We just need to learn to move beyond them and once we do, it will be fine.

    1. Thanks Miriam and Agree completely… Sometimes in that moment it is very difficult to remember and all we can do is not beat ourselves up and move onto and into the next moment… Thanks for sharing Your thoughts.

  3. Thank you for a great article, Carly! 🙂
I personally felt that my negative attitude towards suffering only perpetuated it, so I changed the attitude, looking at life as constant change and attempting to treat ALL the changes with Positivity, just as you are suggesting! And it is so amazing to find out, that even suffering or darkness when treated with kindness and compassion – changes.
