Life is about making choices. Each one of us has our own story with twists and turns, choices and opportunities. You may think you know where your story will take you. You may think you have control to direct your own path. I believe that none of us has control – we have choices.

Every choice you make points you to the next opportunity to choose. Don’t be passive and let life or circumstances choose for you. And don’t let fear of making the wrong choice keep you from making the best choice that you can. It is possible that some of your choices may seem wrong. But every choice is part of your story with power to change your whole life. And a “wrong” choice isn’t necessarily bad. It just means you will take a different route to get to wherever you are supposed to go.

When you lose the illusion of control – when bad things happen – you may feel that life is letting you down. Don’t despair! Even horrible situations can be the impetus to move you in the direction you need to go. You may get a tap on the shoulder or a gentle nudge trying to push you out of your comfort zone and onto a new path. If that doesn’t work, the next hint may actually be a giant shove that forces you to go in a new, unexpected direction.

Don’t wait for the shove! Be open to opportunities and be consciously aware of your choices, even if it is the choice to continue on the same path. Be mindful of everything you do. Be present every second of every day. You never know what will happen or when that magical moment will arrive that will set you on the path your soul is meant to follow. Remember that hardships can make you more present and more willing to look for new opportunities.

Be inspired by people who follow their dreams. Don’t be controlled by jealousy. Be amazed and happy at what others accomplish. Cherish the example they have set and trust that you can do something equally worthwhile.

Don’t be afraid to let go of the safety of something familiar to reach for your dreams. You may not know what your true dream is until you find it and it may not even be the dream you thought you wanted. It may take multiple tries to find the one special thing that brings you fulfillment. Whatever you do, don’t settle for less.

If life doesn’t bring you joy, peace and tranquility, it is time to change. If your life lacks fulfillment, you have not landed on your soul’s purpose in life. Choose another path. Never stop looking and learning until you find what brings you joy. Then live in that joy every day.

Treasure each day as though it was Christmas Eve. Look forward to every new adventure and let every day bring you the gift of new opportunities and new choices.

  1. This is so inspiring. We all must achieve our dreams and goals by letting go of the negative. Negative happens to everyone…it’s only how we choose to let it effect us that blocks us from our goals.

  2. So true. We all have choices. We choose our actions, our effort, and how much we are willing to do.
We tend to forget that we can choose another path in life (if we do not like the one we are currently on). I think that is something people tend to forget.
    Thanks for this 🙂

  3. “If your life lacks fulfillment, you have not landed on your soul’s purpose in life. Choose another path.” Especially these sentences are so inspiring…

  4. This is a gooder inspiration. I have made a few good choices, and bad ones to. The best choice I made, was to put the bottle down, and but out the smokes. I became real. The person I was meant to be. It brought me opportunity to get to know myself. And then did the work to become spiritual. I ran on self hatred, and loathing. Now I’m happy with the man in the glass. I walk with a smile on my face, and it puts a smile on the people I see. Now I’m the one who gets the smiled at. The bad choices pushed me to a new opportunity. Thank you Michelle.

  5. Wow, what an amazing and inspiring post! I love the piece in the article where you say “If life doesn’t bring you joy, peace and tranquility, it is time to change” How simple is that? If you don’t like something simply change it. We have the opportunity every single day to change what makes us unhappy and turn it into something that truly brings us joy. How lucky are we to be able to have that luxury. Maybe the true meaning of life is finding your pursuit to happiness and living it every single day.

    Thanks for this! 🙂

  6. Michelle, as a fellow IMT luminary and stroke survivor, I really appreciate your message. I was a corporate manager of a Fortune 500 company, a healing arts business owner (Reiki and massage), a life coach for women (www.ericatucci.com) and an author of 3 books. It all came to a screeching halt on June 10, 2011 when I had a stroke. My perspective on life changed completely, as you might imagine. But my condition has been a gift from the heavens for what I have learned from it. Much of what you have said in your message is in my book Radiant Survivor (www.radiantsurvivor.com) that I wrote last year. Your message has reminded me, as I continue on my journey of full recovery, what is really important in life, and I thank you for that!

  7. Very inspiring I am at the crossroads left corporate got my PhD in Psycholigy and my desire is to empower women to live their best life. I started my practice but things are a bit slow right now I thought about closing things down today but I stumbled upon this article and it really encouraged me to keep pressing on. Thank you for sharing.
