Known as “The Queen of Survival” and “The Miracle Child", Darcy Keith is an internationally recognized award winning speaker and author. As the only unbuckled backseat survivor in her fatal car crash, Darcy, a 22 year-old Ball State University senior, had to learn how to begin life again - mentally, physically, emotionally, and financially. Life-threatening injuries she sustained left her in a coma, with paralysis to half of her body and relying on life support to help her breathe. Over the years, Darcy has overcome her many life-altering experiences with success and has emerged as an expert on surviving and thriving through life's challenges and trials.
Darcy is an award-winning keynote speaker for seminars, conferences, and meetings for corporations, non-profits, associations, and colleges with recently speaking for the Indianapolis Colts and Baltimore Ravens rookies as part of the NFL’s Rookie Success Program. She has appeared on various television and radio venues around the country, including ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX, with folks such as ABC news reporter Bob Woodruff.
Receiving numerous awards, Darcy was recognized as an Indiana Hero by the Indiana Pacers basketball organization, the 2006 ThinkFirst National Speaker of the Year, a 2000 Ball State University Graduate of the Last Decade, and many others.
Today, Darcy is a professional speaker, author, advocate, and leader. In addition, Darcy is a contributing author to four books including Grammy winning artist Gloria Gaynor’s book, How We Survived, coming out November 2013 based on her song “I Will Survive”, Refined by Fire: Discovering Victory Through Adversity, Women Like Us: Real Stories and Strategies for Living Your Best Life, and Leading the Way: Stories of Leadership and Inspiration.

As I’m typing my thoughts, I am watching my daughter play outside games with her neighborhood friends. First, they played a made-up game of throwing a ball though hula hoops. Next, it was bouncing a ball in the middle of the hula hoop, which had a number point value scribbled with pink sidewalk chalk in the center. How fun it is to watch the girls improvise with the items they have, six hula hoops and five balls of various sizes.
