Today’s Brilliance from Amber Hayes

If there are words I would like to pass on to humanity, it would be to stay true to yourself.

It is important to always be yourself. Do not let anyone tell you otherwise. God created you in his image, and it is your job to fulfill that image. Always stay true to who you are. What other people are doing may seem cool at first, but may not be in the long run. Never get discouraged, because you have a purpose. Everyone on this earth should be themselves in order for us to have a unique and creative place to live in.

I was born on May 24, 1998 and on this day I began my journey. As I grew up, I noticed that I was different than the children around me. I did things different, which often makes me stick out. Then one day I figured out that it doesn’t matter whether I do things like the other kids. The most important thing was for me to stay true to myself.

I was a unique child that was destined for greatness. I went on through school being a kid that obeyed all the rules and brought smiles to people’s faces. I wanted people to experience the happiness I feel from just being the person who you really are. As I grew older I understood the importance of being yourself. Doing this has gotten me a lot of great accomplishments. I have won spelling bees, writing contests, written a short book in school, and have kept up my grades.

Being who I am inspires me to be creative and a better writer. Here is one of the daily quotes that was inspired through me:

“Today’s word is Graduate. High Schools and Colleges will soon have Graduations. Look in your life and find ways to graduate from doing negative to celebrating positive.”

Being from Montgomery, Alabama, a city that made a huge impact on the Civil Rights movement, my life inspires me to give back to those that came before me. Here are few words from a poem that I wrote entitled Side by Side to tell the story of how people of all races were able to fight together during the Civil War.

Saving and building up their bravery
Trying to break loose chains of slavery
Fighting for their rights
Hoping change would come in day or night

I write because I’m different and I’m different because I write. Never think about what you can’t do. My life has just started and I will always continue to prosper. The sky is the limit and I’m in the clouds.
