Hopes, Dreams and Resolutions for 2010!

Happy New Year! For many of us, when we think of the New Year, our minds turn to our hopes, dreams and resolutions for the upcoming year. Today Darryl and I celebrated the end of 2009 and welcomed 2010 with about a dozen friends, by going snowshoeing in the Swan Mountains of Northwestern Montana. Surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of Nature at her finest, I too found myself reflecting back on 2009 and contemplating the magic of 2010. Each year we get the present of another year. So far in my life, I've had 51 of these sparkly presents wrapped…

Mindset over Misfortunes

2010 is already here in some parts of the world, but for me…simply hours away. As I sit and reflect, I look into my mirror of 2009, and staring back at me, this is what I see. Roadblocks, trials, and failures have been my most cherished possessions of 2009, as for they are the reasons I have been so driven to be the change in my own life. They are the reasons I have not given up on my search for the answers. They have allowed me the privilege of surrounding myself with wonderful like minded authentic people that also…

There’s No Place Like Gnome

During the last few weeks as I've been posting photos and sharing stories from our small town, several on-line friends have compared our life here in Bigfork, Montana, to that of a Currier and Ives postcard. Just a few days ago my friend Del Williams told me that I "live in a Hallmark card". She's right. That description fits our little mountain town perfectly. For years, this sleepy little mountain town has been decorated with 2' tall wooden Christmas gnomes scattered throughout the town. My son has wanted one of these gnomes as a holiday present for the past 10…

All I Want For Christmas…

This week in honor of the Christmas holiday, we asked..... "All I want for Christmas is...... " As I was writing this blog, the song "All I Want For Christmas" came on XM Radio in the background. I had a hard time not writing "All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth", but no one included that in their response. :) Still, the serendipity of this old song coming on just as I was writing this made me smile. Here are the responses we received from a bunch of interactive peeps that we recommend for you to follow.…

Radiating Warmth on A Cold Winter’s Night

by Edie Weinstein Home from a wondrous Winter Solstice Event created by a group of talented folks that are part of a community called Common Ground Fellowship. In less than 6 weeks from a meeting held in the suburban Philadelphia home of Joni, as a few of us sat around her fireplace, sipping tea and seed planting, we moved from idea to full out delight in the form of a ritual that we called En-Lighten Up! Held at the Ethical Society in Rittenhouse Square, we gathered to honor the shortest day of the year and welcome in the light in…

Celebrating Differences

Just a few days ago I wrote a blog called "These Are a Few of My Favorite Things". The blog included my personal favorite things as well as a list compiled from contributions from 100 friends in my social media family. This blog spurred conversation with my immediate and my extended family that brought up some very interesting stuff. My husband and I discussed this blog when he was out of town, before I posted it. It was a cold wintry day in Montana and Darryl asked me if I had the fire going. I told him that I didn't,…

Winter Wonderland

Many of my Twitter friends think that we live in a Hallmark card, as our small town in Montana is a very picturesque place. Today was such a magical day that I decided to share it with you in photos. (And, if you make it to the end of the blog, there's a musical present for you... or you could listen to it while you read through the blog and view the photos.) As is the tradition in our family, Darryl and I reserved this day to find our Christmas tree. We left our home on Flathead Lake and headed…

Plugged Into Our Source

By Rev. Edie Weinstein Recently I had a revelation by way of a strand of wiring, a battery and a piece of electronic circuitry that provides education, entertainment and a portion of my right livelihood work. I was sitting at my trusty laptop computer, busily typing an article and noticed that the screen went dim. Now, I know that there are times when my eyes experience fatigue from hours of concentration without a break, but this was something entirely different. I observed that the plug which connects the computer to the battery was slightly dislodged. The moment I fit it…

As you might expect, the answers were deep, insightful and filled with love. By far, the overwhelming majority of responses recommended spending time and sharing love with others. How Can We Best Serve You?

Happy Tuesday from beautiful Montana. We woke this morning to a light dusting of snow that just set off the brilliance of the mountains against the dark colors of the evergreen forests. Knowing that there are times in our day when we all need a little inspiration, I'm including a photo for you taken from my office this morning. As it turns out, today was one of those days for me where I needed inspiration. I started my day dealing with a lot of financial stuff- changing accounts over from one bank to another, changing our merchant account and just…
