Christmas Eve Blessings To You

This is a different kind of blog on this beautiful Christmas Eve, I'm doing something I've never done before- spending Christmas Eve alone. The kids are spending the holiday with the other side of the family, my husband is flying, and the other family that was coming canceled at the last moment for health reasons. And you know what? It's still a beautiful evening. I've had invitations to join friends, but I'm choosing to stay in, hang with Koda, and be reflective of the beauty on the season. Tonight is such a magical night filled with possibility. Not only is…

I’m Grateful!

It feels so wonderful when everyone is in the holiday spirit, that recently I've started a new habit to keep that feeling around throughout the year. When someone asks me the traditional question, "How are you", I smile and say, "I'm grateful!" Usually they are taken aback, as they are expecting me to just say, "Fine, thank you". By saying "I'm grateful" out loud, so many good things happen. It is a constant reminder for me of the many blessings in my life for which I am very grateful. The side effects are also remarkable. The person who asked "How…

Flying Without an Airplane!

The past few days I've felt like I'm flying- and we haven't even started our flight around the world on our Global Hug Tour yet! The synchronicity of life is kicking into full gear. Things are lining up so fast and the world is spinning, but all in a very good way. I'm blown away each day by the serendipity of life. Each day I continue to position myself to be lucky and it just keeps showing up! Today I was reminded how all of this started. Just one short month ago, my husband and I had a visioning session…

The Waves of Life

Yesterday we visited the Bubbling Pool on the windward side of Jost Van Dyke, in the BVI. The Bubbling Pool is a natural rock formation along the coastline that creates the best Jacuzzi one could ever imagine. Add winter weather with northern swells and high tide, and we were set for an amazing experience. The coastline breaks just enough to allow the full force of the water to come in through a sluice-like opening, that creates a very concentrated, very powerful blast of water.  The resulting effect is like being a t-shirt inside of a washing machine; constantly pounded with…

Life’s a Beach- in the British Virgin Islands

As you know, we're still in the British Virgin Islands. As you also may have guessed, my normal life is very full of tasks, projects and exciting business ventures that I love. I'm always busy and rarely slow down. I came down here to sail, relax and write.  Well, two out of three isn't too bad, is it? I haven't found the time to write quite yet. I've actually taken off for the last few days - no email, no telephone- and decided to be a human BEING rather than a human DOING. Instead of reading email I've been watching…

Listening through the Storms

We're in the British Virgin Islands, enjoying a bit of vacation and writing time for me. We are blessed to have a beautiful sailboat named Abundance that is our home away from home. The winter often brings northern swells, high seas and cooler temperatures. Yesterday I woke up after a stormy night on board the boat, moored in the Bight, off Norman Island.  It was if Mother Nature was ridding herself of the last remnants of wind and rain from hurricane season. The morning skies were ominous and I heard a voice warning me that we were going to lose…

What Would You Do If You Couldn’t Fail?

About a week ago I had an idea that was the biggest, boldest idea I've ever had. It came to me in a flash of inspiration during a visioning session with my husband. This idea came from asking ourselves questions like, "How can we make the biggest difference in the world? If we absolutely knew we couldn't fail, what would we do?" Very big questions birth very big outrageous answers. If you don't believe me, ask yourself the same questions. What could you do to make a huge positive impact on the world, knowing that you can't possibly fail? When…

We’ll See

We'll See... There is a Taoist story of an old farmer who had worked his crops for many years. One day his horse ran away. Upon hearing the news, his neighbors came to visit. "Such bad luck," they said sympathetically. "We'll see," the farmer replied. The next morning the horse returned, bringing with it three other wild horses. "How wonderful," the neighbors exclaimed. "We'll see," replied the old man. The following day, his son tried to ride one of the untamed horses, was thrown, and broke his leg. The neighbors again came to offer their sympathy on his misfortune. "We'll…

THANK YOU!!!

I believe that "THANK YOU" could be the two most powerful words on the planet. Thank you. Just two little words but they contain an incredible amount of power to shift your world. This morning my friend Elaine shared with me that she was disappointed by the response she received to gifts she gave to twenty friends. Of the twenty gifts given, she received one written thank you note. I jumped right in and shared with her that I'd sent out about twenty gifts also and I received only two thank you notes. Feeling a bit self-righteous and judging the…

Time to Make Time for You

Do you ever wake up and already wish you had more hours in the day? Imaging more hours to sleep, more hours to play. Each day we're given this beautiful gift of 24 hours to fill in any way that we choose. Like many of us, I always fill mine to the point of overflow. Many of us want to know how to make more hours and how to leave the rat race behind. For me, it's a matter of priorities. If I look at where I'm spending my time, there are always things on the list that don't bring…

I Have a Secret that I Can’t Wait to Share!

I have the coolest job on the planet. Each day I get to interview some of the greatest and most enlightened people in the world. I am blessed to have created a way to do this and each day I'm grateful for the opportunity to surround myself with such excellence. About three months ago I started to write a book, combining the wisdom that I've learned throughout my life, along with the information shared from our Inspirational Luminaries.  Based on some of the same principles from Napolean Hill's masterpiece, "Think and Grow Rich", the preliminary title for my book is…

Biking Up the Hills of Life? Keep on Pedaling!

Yesterday we went for a bicycle ride through the outskirts of downtown Boulder. It was one of those picture-perfect crisp autumn days filled with clear cool mountain air, bright sunshine and Nature at her finest. The paved bike path meanders through city and wooded park areas, back and forth over Boulder Creek and up and down small hills at the base of the Rocky Mountains. The last flaming colors of autumn had fallen and were covered with touches of snow still remaining from Friday morning's passing storm. The first ice of winter was desperately clinging to the rocks as it…

Love Is the Answer

This morning I received two emails within 5 minutes of each other, from friends asking for advice on how to deal with a difficult situation. The first one wrote that her best friend's husband was dying from cancer. The second one shared that her friend's husband had been shot and killed yesterday. Both women were asking the question "How can I be there for my friend"? Who am I to give an answer to something like this? Yet they asked, and I felt a need to reach out with whatever I could. They gave me the opportunity to do what…

Serendipity, Coincidence or Something Bigger?

How many times do things show up in your life that you write off to coincidence or serendipity? How often are you pleasantly surprised at things just fall into place perfectly? We are very powerful beings with the capabilities of creating what we choose in our lives. Yet many times, we don't believe in this power, don't believe that we had anything to do with the "perfect timing" of a situation and don't use it to our advantage.  Instead, why not harness this energy and put it to work for you? A recent example of serendipity in my life was…

Abundance Is All Around You

I tried an experiment this week. This is my seventh blog in seven days. I originally started writing at the beginning of this week because I had something to say. It quickly became a question of how many concurrent days could I write… as one day gradually grew into seven. Yesterday I had the thought of , "Maybe I should save this idea in case I don't have anything to blog about tomorrow? What if I run out of ideas? I don't want to get our community in the habit of expecting one each day and then not delivering! Oh…

Letting Go of the “HOW?”

The email response to my recent blog postings has been humbling. The number one question I've been asked is "HOW? How do I focus on the positive when I can't make payroll? How do I enjoy my day when I'm so miserable? How do I get rid of the fear that I feel inside?" HOW seems to be a big, scary word. In gathering my thoughts for this blog post I was wondering, "How do I help"? I was also stuck in the HOW of not knowing, yet wanting to be of service. And then something funny happened. I was…

Celebrate Your Moments of Success

This past weekend I was asked to speak on "Success" and immediately, my mind went to "S U C C E S S... that's the way we spell Success!" Yes, I was a cheerleader in high school, in case you hadn't already guessed it. I was right back in 11th grade with that inner mantra playing in my mind. I had to laugh how back then it was about winning a football game. Today, it's about living a winning life. Our topic of discussion was, "How do you define success?" To me success isn't about accumulation of money, things or…

Get Out of the Book!

This weekend I had the pleasure of speaking on the topic of success at the Thin Air Summit in Denver. Part of the experience was a Q&A session where my friend Brian asked, "What do you do when you have a bad day? How do you get out of it?" Well, today is one of those times so I thought I'd answer the question best by sharing the process with you. Most mornings I wake up and write. This morning I woke up to an early telephone call and felt like someone not only threw the book at me, but…

Happy Monday!

Happy Monday! When I first realized I was awake this morning, I smiled and then I remembered it was Monday. I had a great weekend and would have been happier if today would have been Sunday all over again. And then I laughed, for what makes Monday any different from Sunday or Friday for that matter, but my thoughts about it? A day is a day and nothing more. It's the labels and expectations that my thoughts place on the day that make it different from any other day. The hopes, the fears, the expectations all come from within me!…

Born to Fly!

This morning I woke up hearing these words in my mind. I reached for the computer and with my eyes closed, just started typing. I'm not sure where it came from or what I must have been dreaming, but I wrote it just as I heard it. When I read it later today I thought it wasn't half bad, so I decided to share it with you. Comments are so welcome on this one! Here it is……. You can do it! Don't listen to the naysayers, those that haven't done what you're trying to accomplish, or those who never will.…
