This morning I talked with one of my good friends, Lori. She was telling me about a great new plan that she had for her business. The excitement was palpable and grew exponentially as she shared her enthusiasm. Then suddenly she stopped, and said, “Well, that’s what I’ll do WHEN I get a sponsor.” Enthusiasm gone.

Excitement killed by logic.
We all have dreams. We all have the same voice inside telling us why we can’t do our own specific dream. What’s the biggest impediment stopping you from your dream?

If I had the money… if I were younger…  if I had a partner that supported me… etc. Sound familiar?

Now, let me ask you again- “What’s the biggest impediment stopping you from your dream?” Please share with me the “if I had x then I could move forward” belief that is stopping you in your tracks.

Take a moment and find what that belief is for you.  When you find it, hang onto it for a few minutes, as you’ll need it in a few paragraphs.

Now, do you remember when you were a child how you could play “pretend” for hours? We’d set up all the empty food boxes in the house and play store, we’d pretend to be doctors and take care of others, we’d be cowboys or Indians, and after watching Perry Mason, we’d pretend to be lawyers and argue points with our siblings or friends? I can’t be the only one who did these things, can I?

Just for a moment, I’m going to ask you to be ten years old again, and play the game of “Pretend” with me. So tell me again, what’s your obstacle?
Now, “pretend” that you already have exactly what it is that you feel that you need to continue. If you need money to pursue your dream, you now have unlimited cash. If you need a corporate sponsor, you have several to choose from. If you need a partner, you have found the perfect person. Whatever the need is, it has now been filled. Woohoo! Doesn’t that feel great!?

Knowing you have everything you need is one of the best feelings in the world. Feel it, celebrate it, and then, it’s time for action.

Now that you have everything you need, what is the very next step that you would take to bring your dream to life? GO DO IT! Let me repeat that- GO DO IT NOW!

As soon as we get out of the micro managing “How am I going to do this” stage and take action as if we already have everything we need- things shift.

When we take action through inspiration and feel good about our choices, the results will be monumentally successful.

When I look back at some of my greatest accomplishments, I had no idea how we were going to make them happen. The one thing that they all have in common, in retrospect, is that we took action without waiting for the “necessary” components to show up. We just “pretended” that everything was perfect and acted from that place. And you know what? By doing so- everything WAS perfect and everything did show up!

It seems so counterintuitive to our human nature. It almost seems like we’re lying to ourselves and to the world. I like to think that we’re just telling the truth in advance.

Just for today, pretend that every obstacle in your path, whether real or perceived, is gone. You have everything you need to move forward. Find the next step and take it.

Have the faith that when you step forward with courage and conviction, the Universe will also step forward to support you. But, you have to have the faith first before it will show up for you. When you believe in the possibility of your dream, the floodgates to the magic of life will open for you.

Just for today, try it. Pretend with me and then write and share the magic of your experience with us. I’m here to celebrate your victory with you, so please feel free to share your obstacle and your first step below. Thanks for being a part of our community.

Hugs,

Gail

  1. Thank you for reinforcing a belief in optimism, there is so much despondency around at present that your words seem like Micro Economics, compared with the world scene. It makes me think that if we address the issues that are emerging ahead of them
becoming a crisis, people might catch on to good causes and help rather than condemn. I am talking about the coming crisis with bees, particularly for the pollination of crops. Seems to me that will put finance into perspective.

  2. Hi Gail-

I am so glad you posted this. I am one that believes a lot in visualizaion. I am doing that right now with a new place that I want to move into. I can even feel the cozyness of my new apartment.

BTW- thanks for putting this line in “It seems so counterintuitive to our human nature. It almost seems like we’re lying to ourselves and to the world. I like to think that we’re just telling the truth in advance.” I always thought that to myself, now I know that I am not the only one.

    Woohoo to my new apartment!
