Wow! Here’s some exciting news. I just received a copy of an official proclamation from the office of the Westchester County Executive designating May 4, 2011, and each year thereafter to be “Make A Promise Day.” I want to express my sincere appreciation to Robert Astorino, the Westchester County Executive, for issuing this proclamation. It’s a big step forward in my mission to establish Make A Promise Day as a widely recognized day for celebrating the amazing power of making a promise.

The proclamation underscores the power and the appeal of the Make A Promise idea.  I’m thrilled because it means people here in Westchester and beyond will learn about ‘Make A Promise Day’ and the power of making a promise.  And this builds momentum for other jurisdictions – like New York State and other states – to follow Westchester’s lead.  The more communities and states and countries we have embracing the ‘Make A Promise Day’ idea, the more this positive message about the unique power of making a promise will spread.  My mission is to share the power of making a promise with millions of people around the world.  And by doing so we’ll transform the world one person and one promise at a time.

I hope members of the Inspire Me Today community will join me in spreading the idea of Make A Promise and the power of making a promise to other locations and jurisdictions across the US and around the world.  Please ask your local, state, or national authorities to proclaim May 4th to be Make A Promise Day.  Here’s a short YouTube video of me reading the Westchester County “Make A Promise Day” proclamation followed by the actual text of the proclamation that you can use to send a letter to your local supervisors, mayor, governor, legislative representatives, president or prime minister – you name it.  Thanks for helping me spread the word.  And please keep me posted about any developments or send me any comments to [email protected].
