If you’ve been following my tweets and postings on Facebook for the last week or so, hopefully you’ve enjoyed some of our sunset photos. We moved to a new home in Montana that has some of the best sunsets I’ve ever seen.P1030517

About a week ago I was out on the deck with my mother when something she said really hit me. She mentioned that the sun was setting and for the first time, I really thought about what that meant. Her simple comment made it an introspective experience for me.

We all know what sunset is and can picture it in our mind. Most of us could provide a definition of the sun dropping below the horizon or disappearing from our view.

Interestingly enough, most of us see it as the sun moving, dropping, disappearing and then leaving us. My mother even sadly said “Goodbye” to the sun, until tomorrow.

That’s when it hit me! Obviously, the sun wasn’t going anywhere- we were! The sun remains motionless in the same location day after day and we are spinning and revolving around the sun. The sun dropping and “setting” is just an illusion.Dsc05276

Yet, we seem to think that we’re remaining motionless and the sun rises and sets around us, rather than it being our actions, our movement that creates the illusion.

How many things in life are like this? Circumstances happen and we have the belief that they are happening TO us, rather than by us. It’s easier most times to believe that “life just happens” than it is to realize that we are the world and it is us that is spinning around the sun.

It is only when we take a step back and really look at what is going on, that we can understand the deeper reasons behind life, and understand that we are revolving, moving and growing, rather than being a powerless being standing still.

We have immense power to create the world around us, by our thoughts, feelings and actions.

So instead of sitting still today and thinking that the world is revolving around you, realize that it is you that is doing the moving, the creating and the growing around a very loving and supportive Universe. Kinda changes things just a bit, doesn’t it?

  7. Loving the sunset aha-moment you share. How true that we have such a choice to shape our world via “our thoughts, feelings and actions.” Emphasis on action:) Never underestimate the impact you can have on others. Love your work.
