Day Four was so much better than Day Three! After a sleepy late start, I missed exercise yesterday in the morning, because of pre-scheduled appointments. I broke my own rule and jumped right out of bed and into work without taking the time for me. Sometimes when there are too many things on our plate, it’s difficult to schedule time for us.

In spite of missing my walk, the day evolved into a very productive one. I had good energy all day and wasn’t hungry or grumpy. Most importantly, whatever was going on the day before seems to have gone and I’m back to being motivated and happy again. And, I’m down 1/2 pound from the day before!

As a quick update, I took a big bike ride with Koda later in the day, took a walk looking for Koda later in the evening, (when he decided to go for a walk without me!), and ate about 12 fruits and veggies today. I felt great all day.

I’m very grateful for the love from so many! We’ve started a Google Group for anyone who needs a little extra support on their own journey, so please email [email protected] if you’re interested in joining us.

The emails that I have received convince me that self image is a huge issue for most women, and even for some men. I almost feel like I opened a closet door where there are many secrets hiding. So many people can identify with this challenge. The overwhelming response from you is that I wrote your story, not mine.

Many commented on my courage to take this out of the closet and talk about it in an honest and open way. Funny thing is, by doing that, it freed me! I was embarrassed for so long, not wanting others to know what I was going through. By being honest and open, others shared that they too are feeling the same way. The honesty opened doors and gave others permission to talk about their issues too.

I had one woman send me an email where she told me that she was more than 100 pounds overweight. She was inspired by my blog post  but said that she wasn’t ready to publicly admit that she had a weight problem quite yet. Without meaning to sound harsh, despite what we’re ready to admit or not, my guess is that the rest of the world already knows anyway.

Sometimes it feels like when we admit something to ourselves, we’re the last to know. We spend so much time and energy trying to hide our secrets from one another, when that time could be used constructively to solve the problem together. When we’re honest with ourselves and vulnerable with others, we free ourselves.

Like most adventures in life, this experience is teaching me daily. I’m sure today, Day Five will have lessons of it’s own. For now, I’m off to exercise, so I’ll talk with you more this evening. Make it  beautiful day!
