Balance. It’s something that we all aspire to maintain in our lives, but many times we fall a bit short of our desired outcome. In this day and age where always increasing pressures simultaneously pull us in multiple directions, it’s critically important to take the time to reconnect and add balance to our lives.

The question is, how do we do that?

For me, balance starts with an intention to separate “me” from what’s going on around me. It’s making the time to recognize, acknowledge and appreciate the inner “me”, and knowing that the world will keep on spinning without me for a bit. It’s putting down the multiple balls that I juggle on a day-to-day basis, knowing it’s okay to do so. Actually, it’s more than “okay” to do so, it’s a requirement for us to be the best  that we can be.

How can we live an inspiring life if we don’t take the time to be inspired?

For me personally, I find it easiest to take the time to go inside and be inspired when I remove myself physically from the places and situations where stress lives. In other words, I change my surroundings, and get out of my office and into the woods. Walking in nature has always been my personal refuge. I probably shouldn’t admit it, but many mornings I’ll actually talk out loud to the trees or to my dog, as I walk amidst the splendor of the forest… and something magical happens.P1090772 2

There’s something very grounding about putting one’s feet at the base of a tree that has stood for fifty to a hundred years… something that literally grounds the thoughts and emotions inside of me and puts my life back into perspective.

After an hour’s communion in the woods, I find a sense of balance in my life and I realize that I am not my problems. I remember that I am so much bigger than what’s going on around me. I am capable of solving any problem, because I’m tapped into a Source that is unlimited and infinite. And all of this comes from simply creating the intention for balance, and making the time to allow it to happen.

  1. Hi Gail,

Great post. That’s exactly it. Taking time for yourself is the key to balance. Many people get caught up in everything but themselves and that’s how they become so imbalanced. When I take a break and focus back to the reason why I do everything I do… I become recharged. That’s when I feel balanced.

It’s incredible how often my clients come to me saying that they have lost the passion for their business when they haven’t taken the break from their business long enough to recharge their batteries for that passion to come back.

    Have a great day!
