The truth that I would like to share with fellow beings is that there is a source of wisdom, joy and peace that anyone can draw upon. That source has nothing to do with the desires of the physical body, or the self-centeredness of the egoic mind. Yet it is to be found within each of us, accessible by simple means and eager to sustain and nourish the part of us that aspires to a loving, compassionate connection with humankind.

Source has many names in different spiritual traditions. Some call it spirit, love or the higher self. Its name is not important, nor is there any way of defining or categorizing it. It cannot be studied or described, other than by its effects in our hearts. It cannot be compared to anything, because it comprises all things in all universes. It is the vibrational energy from which all material things and all other energies are derived.

People throughout history have known the source under different names. Some were spiritual teachers who founded great religious traditions – Jesus, Buddha, Lao Tse, to name a few. Many more have been individuals who led quiet lives as monastics, teachers, writers, or followers of everyday occupations, but through whom the light of love and compassion shone into the world, brightening the lives of those they touched. Each of us can aspire to be such a beacon of happiness and hope.

At this time in the history of humankind, there is great need for individuals to take up the challenge to renounce hatred and fear, and become teachers by example of love and compassion. In order to do so, it is necessary to establish and maintain the connection between the individual consciousness which guides our attitudes and behaviors, and the source of universal consciousness. The way to create that connection is through the twin tools of meditation and mindfulness.

Meditation is practiced in a variety of forms that have in common the technique of quieting the conscious mind. When thoughts and transitory emotions are stilled, a great discovery is made. Behind the distracting chatter of the ego and the body there is a presence, and that presence is source. When we clear away the mental obstacles that separate us from the source, we find that it emanates a constant stream of loving and peaceful energy that calms us, and creates in us the desire to share that energy with the world. Without further effort, we become the beacons of love and compassion that we seek to be.

Mindfulness is the tool we use to maintain the purity of the signal that we broadcast. It reminds us when worldly distractions have corrupted our signal, and helps us to make choices that keep us on the path of love. It tells us when we need to refresh our connection with the source by retiring into meditation for a while.

Through the tools of meditation and mindfulness, you can become a positive force for good in the world.

Bless you all.

For the past 12 years I have been a meditator and spiritual author, with one published book ("Spontaneous Beauty") and a blog by the same name to my credit. I am a licensed attorney and have practiced as a tax consultant to major corporations during a forty-year career. I was born in Glendale, California, and have lived in Honolulu, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Dallas, and Denver before moving to Las Vegas where I now reside. I spent two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Yonibana, Sierra Leone. My goal as a spiritual writer is to bring peace and love into the hearts of all people, and thereby contribute to the shift now taking place in world consciousness away from hatred and greed, and toward love and compassion.

  1. A lovely and truthful call into spirit; if this one call into presence and love was properly honored throughout the world, the Kingdom would be accessible to all. <3 Blessings, friend.

      1. Your writing expresses the truth,it is just wonderful!
All of us originated from the same source, existing in the Oneness depending on one another.
We need universal love, boundless love to make life on earth a happier and more peaceful place
        for all of us.

  2. Thank you for your true and beautiful words… I wholeheartedly agree with you. We are indeed in an era of a new evolution of consciousness. I’ve been blessed to experience source and that stream of love, but I find that problems in the material world are always corrupting that signal… Thank you again for your words today, for helping me refocus my attention on that which is true… I gave up a decent life in WV and came to Southern California believing my heart was calling me to share the light, yet seeing the desperate situation of homelessness and addiction has all but crushed my spirit. We need the healing power of love in our world so urgently ,????
