Be still in your life. Take time to listen to nothing but the sound of your own thoughts. Learn to like your own company.
Share with others what you have. Even if it is just a dollar, share it.
Listen with your heart. Do not be in a hurry to tell your story. Listen as others tell their story first.
See what needs to be done, and do it. Do the dishes need to be washed? Yes? Then wash them. Are there dirty clothes on the bed? Yes? Put them in the hamper.
Send a smiley to someone just because you can. You never need a reason to tell someone you are thinking of them.
Be happy in the small things. A peculiar shaped cloud, the sounds of birds, the smell of home baked cobbler. These are all things in which we can find simple joy in.
Take nothing for granted. You never know what’s coming around the bend. But never fear the bend, for you are strong enough to handle anything.
Send handwritten notes. Even in this fast-paced electronic world of ours, we all enjoy getting a card in the post.
Smile at everyone you see, even if you don’t feel happy, for it is hard to be sad when you feel a smile upon your face.
Take time to mourn. We all lose loved ones in our lives. Take time to mourn and don’t be in such a rush that you forget to allow yourself the time to grieve, remember, and celebrate.
Paint, draw, color, sing, dance, play an instrument, or do anything else that makes you happy. The happier you are, the more your light will shine.
Honor yourself so that you can honor others. You can do this by exercising, eating good food (and junk food once in a while), getting lots of rest, and smiling. Do lots of smiling.
Quit the bad habits: smoking too much, drinking too much, and eating too much. You see the pattern. Do nothing in excess but smile.
Inquire about another’s health. People love having someone who cares how they are doing.
Don’t give advice unless asked. This will save you some trouble down the road. So will leaving some remarks unsaid.
List ten things you are thankful for each day, especially if you are having a terrible day.
