Need Support? Surrender To Spirit

I had a stroke in the summer of 2011, which, as crazy as this may seem to some, I feel was a gift from heaven for the wisdom I have gained. As I round the bend on the last leg of my healing, the greatest pearl of wisdom I would like to impart is about surrendering.

It’s about “letting go and letting God.” We have all heard that saying, but I feel it truly doesn’t resonate with someone until they can deeply feel it in their heart. And although I used to “mouth” these words before my stroke, I didn’t really “feel” it until after my stroke, when my life changed drastically.

My massage therapist has a wonderful plaque above his massage table that says, “The power that created the body can heal the body.” Oh, so true!

If we surrender to the power of Spirit (God, Providence, our Creator, the Universe, Allah or however you define the Higher Power), miracles can happen. When I speak of the Higher Power, I am speaking about that god/dess essence that is in all of us, our own inner Divinity… that source of all creation that connects all of us.

Life’s journey is full of magic – the marvelous, the miraculous and the wonderful – but it’s not without its hurdles along the way. And when we come to these bumps in the road, we need to have faith and believe that Spirit “has our back” and will be our pillar of strength, propping us up and propelling us forward.

We need to do our part as we move down our path of personal evolution, but Spirit is always there giving us all the support we need to carry through and carry on. We don’t need to force things to happen or worry about when things get done. Everything has its own Divine timing.

If we watch the magnificence that is created by the Divine, like the blossoming of a flower or the birth of a baby or the flow of a river, we can learn from the natural flow of life. We see how the miracles of life unfold naturally, without fear, without manipulation, without resistance.

When we surrender to the source of all creation, we are transformed, and as we are transformed, the world around us is transformed.

Erica Tucci

Erica is a 50something-year old woman (59 to be exact!) who led a very fulfilling life as she knew it. She was a corporate manager at a Fortune 500 company in Houston, the owner of a healing arts business and an author of three books (six now). All that came crashing down on June 10, 2011, when she had a stroke! Needless to say, her life was changed dramatically. She went from running as fast as she could on the treadmill of life to scooting along at a snail’s pace.

During her recovery (which is ongoing), she has gained much wisdom about what’s really important in life. Although she has been an author, a Reiki master, massage therapist and fledgling life coach as well as a corporate cog, she has realized that she needs to focus and get clarity in her life, instead of grabbing at every shiny object. She is now focusing on giving Dream Board workshops to help other like-minded souls find clarity in their lives so that they can manifest their greatest dreams. And as she loves to write, she will begin writing her 7th book. Her primary website, which needs to be updated and revamped, is ericatucci.com.

    1. Jacqueline, I am glad that you like it. We are co-creators with the Higher Power and we should always remember that we are truly supported. 🙂

  1. I enjoy most of the wisdom from Inspire me and I was raised as a catholic and later studied with other religions. Today I am much wiser, stronger and happier I don’t credit any of it to God my belief is solely in evolution. Everyone is entitled to their beliefs and if that’s what gets them through then great but please don’t try to force the rest of us to agree with your beliefs.

    1. Rosie, just as you said, everyone has their own beliefs. I am not trying to force anyone to agree with my beliefs. I was invited to be on Inspire Me Today to be one of their luminaries because I had a message to share. If you don’t agree with it, that’s fine. You don’t have to agree.

  2. “When we surrender to the source of all creation, we are transformed, and as we are transformed, the world around us is transformed.” –> We are most definitely of like mind and heart on this one, Erica. I’m so glad you stopped by to read my piece today, if only because it gave me an opportunity to read yours!

  3. I feel like I am at a crossroad in my life and your message reminded me how important it is to let life flow and stop trying to control situations or people. Thank you so much for the beautiful reminder. Many blessings to you Erica

    1. Lupita, I am glad my message helped you in some small way. I know exactly how you feel. Surrendering control has been the hardest thing for me to do, so much so that I know that I will not fully recover unless I completely let go. So I better do so! 🙂 Blessings to you also.

  4. Good morning Erica,
As I was exercising just a few minutes ago and stretching the stiffness out of my lower back along with deep breathing, this thought popped in my head; ” The power that created the body can heal the body”. Well I know in my heart it is more than fate, because when you are dedicated to the path to seek truth you most certainly will find it.

    Blessings and love,
    Michael

    1. Michael, I couldn’t agree with you more! We have the power to heal ourselves, that is, the big “me” not the little “me”…our Higher Self. When we have lost our connection to our Higher Self, that is when suffering occurs. When we journey down the path to truth, we reconnect with our Higher Self where anything is possible. 🙂

  5. Ahh, lovely! Very well defined. I too strongly believe but sometimes when big bumps come on road, it becomes hard to follow but I think even if we come on track soon, it is ok but if you have any suggestion, pls do tell. Love the post today

    1. Thank you Pooja. I just came home from a shamanic workshop and the instructor reminded us that every day is a different day. What I took from that is that each day, we should look at it with a different perspective, like an innocent child and her/his curiosity. When things are tough, try to see something different in each day, something positive. Do something differently that makes you feel good. A walk in nature. Giving someone a hug. Petting an animal. Anything that might make you feel better. “Drop the fear” is what the instructor said. Fear keeps you in a state of negativity. Open your heart to what is good in that day. I know it is hard to do this when everything seems so bleak, but by taking baby steps, one step at a time, eventually you will begin to feel more and more positivity in your life, which won’t allow negativity to enter your energy. Overcoming adversity isn’t a walk in the park, but you can certainly enjoy the time by how you react to it. I hope that makes sense! 🙂

      1. You are awesome! That definitely makes great sense. I will keep this with me and read over and over, again and again. You made my day. Is it possible to get your email ID? Thank you

          1. Thanks a lot Erica. I am sure this is God’s will and there is a spirit at the moment watching over me and that’s why I came across this inspiring article of yours.

  6. “Letting go, and Letting God.” What a perfect thing to meditate on, and aspire to – especially during this holiday season that encourages anxiety. Thanks Erica! Always on target with your inspirational messages.
