In today’s world, so many people wake up to an alarm clock, less than thrilled to step out of bed and into the shower to prepare for a full day of work. After they brush their teeth and pour a cup of coffee to take with them on their morning commute, they ponder how many other things they could be doing over the next 10 hours that would be so much more productive than what they’re about to actually do.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

What so many people don’t realize is that you don’t have to continue to live the corporate way of life if you don’t want to. It’s okay to take a leap of faith. If you have a passion, explore it. If there is something you could be doing that would make you happier than what you’re doing right now, then just start doing it.

Now I’m not condoning that you throw caution to the wind. It’s important to evaluate your current situation, and it’s important that you uphold your existing commitments and responsibilities. But just because you have a 9 – 5 doesn’t mean you can’t start putting your energy towards something meaningful.

All it takes is 30 minutes a day – 1 hour a week – whatever amount of time you have to get some momentum going that will direct you towards where you want to be. And once you’re pointed in the right direction, don’t look back.

I spent four years on active duty in the US Army, and completed a 13-month tour of duty in Iraq. I came back to the great US of A and spent another four years in the reserves. Since then, I’ve worked for financial institutions, start-up companies, and real estate offices. One thing I’ve learned along the way is that if you have a passion or a dream to do something more, something different than what you’re doing right now, then follow that passion or dream.

It’s scary.

It’s intimidating.

It might even seem a little crazy at times.

But don’t let these things hold you back. FOCUS: Follow One Course Until Success.

The important wisdom I want to pass along today is that if you have a passion or a dream to do something other than what you’re doing right now, then stop, shift your focus, and just start doing it.

  1. Just the words I needed to hear today–I am a “Best Seller ” author that lost momentum as I felt being with my six kids was more important than pushing books, but thankfully, at that time, we had book-rackers who did the job for us! So, here I am–at age 90–writing another book! But with some fear and trepidation!–but your words gave me great encouragement, so–Thank you, very much!
