Margaree Mitchell writes for children, teens, and adults. She is the author of Uncle Jed's Barbershop, Granddaddy's Gift, When Grandmama Sings, The People In The Park, and her new book, Woman In The Pulpit. Her books have won numerous awards.

She is the creator of the Everybody Has A Dream program which inspires students to dream great dreams for their lives and believe those dreams can come true. She was honored for her commitment to children's literacy by Texas A&M University. She was also presented with the SCERUS Award at the National Invitational Conference on Educational Research in the Urban South. She lives in Kansas City.
