This Perfect Day

Dear Readers, I know this Today's Brilliance is a bit different, but I received this message early this morning with the instruction to write it down... This the perfect day I give you. Accept it. Use it. Express My Love through it. Rejoice in your talents through it. Rest in My certainty through it. I give this day to you freely, lovingly, fully. Use it for My glory and your joy. We Are the Creators of Our Lives

We are the creators of our lives. We have been given the ability to imagine, declare, decree, visualize, and expect what we want. We are not tiny objects buffeted in an uncertain, perilous world. Instead, we are the masters, the victors, the creators of our worlds. Most of us don’t realize, much less claim, this gift. But some know—the golfer who visualizes the perfect swing, the dancer who envisions the perfect plié, the host who pictures the perfect feast. The more we believe in, develop, and practice with passion and expectation our creative ability, the sooner our pictures will be…

My Gratitude List

Every morning I sit outside on my high-floor terrace in South Florida, sip my coffee, and read an uplifting pamphlet or two. Then I write out my day’s schedule. Too often, despite the uplifting material, I start worrying about this client or that deadline or the seemingly endless list of tasks on the schedule. And my quiet time erodes into anxiety. The activity that’s supposed to help me ease into the day with a positive outlook has the opposite effect. Instead of returning to my home office refreshed and ready to work, I’m drained and irritable. As I kept noticing…

Love Forgive Listen Trust

After another loud, red-faced argument with my husband, I retreated to my corner to mentally reassert my rightness and curse under my breath. Our angry words hung in the air like trapped dust. We’d had too many of these arguments lately, and I hated how I felt. Like a shrew, the kind of woman who makes a scene in public and you watch, shaking your head and thinking, How could she do that? I hated too the inevitable aftermath: hours, days, of silence, polite avoiding of each other in the hallway, sleeping separately, and the only words spoken questions about food…

Deserving

So often we don’t we have what we want. Why? The more I think about this question and review my own life attitudes, the more I come up with the same answer: We don’t feel we deserve it. So many of us feel we must earn worthiness. Repeating Hail Marys, trekking to Mecca, toiling in the Amazon, writing incessantly, doing massive loads of laundry, cooking massive amounts of meals, denying ourselves massive amounts of what pleases us. Sometimes we think we can earn worthiness by stockpiling money, houses, fame, titles, awards, degrees, publications. When we’ve achieved these, we may look…
