Why is that, once we grow up, we think we have to stop playing? Actually, once we grow up, it is even more important we continually find ways to bring the fun back into our lives. It is through playing that we are stimulating our senses – all of our senses, our entire multi-sensory being.
The old saying “use it or lose it” is quite true. If you watch children, they learn by doing, but they also learn through playing. The same applies whether we are young or old. Our brains need that stimulus — or it gets dull and less sharp. Some studies say it can even mimic symptoms of dementia!
And besides… playing is fun! Get silly, dance like nobody is watching, sing in the shower, go sing Karaoke with friends, throw a costume party, play with your kids. Be willing to step out of your comfort zone and let your childlike curiosity come out and explore the inner workings of your inner child from a long time ago.
Color your world with your vivid imagination. Color, write, do things you have never done before, eat things you have never eaten before, go on a spontaneous weekend getaway, surprise a loved one…. Get creative and just put yourself out there!
We only LIVE ONCE, so enjoy the Journey! It is soooo worth it. Love deeply… Laugh hourly… Thank others at least three times a day… Give to others in some shape or form at least three times a day… and above all else be as authentic as you dare be! Be willing to take off the mask and unveil your true self to self and others. They can see the real you anyways, so why hide behind the mask?
Life is a Journey, Enjoy it… Take time to learn, play and grow each and every day!

I 100% agree. You need to add play to your daily schedule or else you won’t find joy in anything either. If you are not stimulated enough that will create more problems later on.
Thanks Miriam… Enjoy your day… and Your Children… Enjoy playing with them and tap into their creativity

Thanks for sharing Your thoughts Bonnie and yes with technology it is so true kids are into their techy toys too much
Staying young heart is the key to longevity. Who says we have to grow dull as we grow old? My grandmother is the youngest person I know.
That’s right Alicia, we never have to stop playing.. Young at Heart till the day I Die….
As Bonnie says, it’s bad enough that we adults have FORGOTTEN how to play and have fun. I wonder how many of today’s kids will have much of anything to forget! Have you ever had a moment where you’re doing something silly and it takes you back to the elementary school playground …and you recapture that feeling … even for a moment? It bliss!
Exactly Sharon that is why I encourge parents to play with their kids and adults to play with each other, any game, card games, puzzles, out door games, any game… spend quality time doing fun things
