I had a great conversation last week with my mother-in-law, which in and of itself, isn’t remarkable. What’s remarkable however, is the fact that she passed away more than two years ago.
Last week, I had the pleasure of interviewing today’s Inspirational Luminary, Maureen Hancock. After an hour of questions, I thanked Maureen and our interview ended. That’s when she asked me if I’d like to “speak” to anyone. To explain this in the proper context, Maureen is a spirit medium who has been communicating with dead people since she was a small child.
After reading her book, The Medium Next Door: Adventures of a Real-Life Ghost Whisperer, I wanted to interview this woman who has one of the most unique “jobs” of anyone I know.
After all, at some point in our life, I think we all wonder what happens when we die. Is there a heaven? What about hell? Does our spirit live on in a different form? Most of us turn to religion for answers. Yet ironically, our history is fraught with wars fought over religious differences, because one group thinks they understand the teachings of love better than another does.
People may walk different religious paths, yet at the core of who we are, I believe we’re all the same. Having questions of my own, I set out on a search 30 years ago, devouring religious texts, exploring the world of metaphysics and questioning the mysteries of life. It’s no surprise that the television show, Medium, was one of my favorites.
When I heard about Maureen, I wanted to talk with this renowned spirit medium, teacher, lecturer, and holistic healer. I wanted to know more and hear first-hand how she works with this gift. And, after spending an hour with this bright light, my questions were replaced with a deep sense of peace and an overwhelming feeling of unconditional love.
Our conversation reawakened something deep within. In my “conversation” with my mother-in-law, she shared things that removed all doubt as to who she was. She even went as far as to ask me to tell my husband (her son) to fix the tire on his truck, as she keeps seeing him fill the tire with air. (Indeed, he has a problem with the tire and has been filling it each week rather than fixing the slow leak! How did she know that?!)
Regardless of the words or the proof, the important part for me was knowing that my mother-in-law was radiant, happy and above all, whole once again. What I felt and heard, was an overwhelming outpouring of one thing- love. Although we may leave our bodies at the end of our Earthly journey, the energy of who we are can never die. Love never dies. Our loved ones are still here with us and the separation that we feel is only an illusion.
Maureen has reached thousands of people on the other side, who come from all walks of life, different religions, races, genders and national origins. But no matter their story, certain things are constant- at the soul level, we are all the same and love never dies.
When I think of some of the things I was concerned about prior to our telephone call, I almost chuckle at how trivial my “problems” seemed to be. When all is said and done and it is our time to return home and we realize that love never dies, I think the biggest question we’ll ask is, “Did we love fully?” For at the end of the day, we’re back to love as the common denominator that runs through our lives here and obviously on the other side too. Kinda makes me want to go and hug someone right now… knowing that the love shared will always be there.
I’ve shared this on Facebook Gail, it’s a lovely story. Their love does never die, it will always have a place in your heart.
Inspiring and of great comfort. A georgian saying found on many items of Memorial jewellery is:::::::Not Lost,BUT GONE BEFORE !
How very true.
