Recently, my friend Marci Shimoff shared a story with me that really touched my heart. Her friend CJ was very ill with lupus, but rather than complain about the situation, she was inspired to become a messenger of blessing. Everywhere she went she silently shared this blessing on behalf of others in her life.
“May you be safe, may you be happy, may you be healthy, may you live with ease.”
From strangers on the street, to friends and family, CJ spent a year blessing other people. When waiting in line at the grocery store, she would say her mantra over and over again silently in her mind for the person in front of her, the one behind her in line and for the cashier. She was constantly focused on love and blessing.
She did nothing differently in her treatment for her disease. Yet, from that place of loving-kindness for others, she herself was healed. Within a year, her body had no trace of the disease. The doctors called it a medical miracle. I call it a side effect of being a messenger of love. How can you share love with everyone and not spill a little bit on yourself?
This works not only on our health, but in our relationships, finances, creative endeavors and all other parts of our lives too!
Scientists continue to reinforce and prove the tangible effects of the power of our words. We are energy and the love and kindness that we share is also energy.
Imagine a world where everyone sends blessings to one another instead of curses. When someone pulls out in front of us, I want our first instinctive action to be one of blessing. Instead of saying “You X&$#@xx!” to the person, what if we immediately beamed, “May you be safe, may you be happy, may you be healthy, may you live with ease.”
I believe if we really knew the power of our words and our thoughts, we would be much more careful with them. We would retrain ourselves to act from a place of kindness as our default position rather than just reacting.
Please join me in an experiment in love. Just for today, see how many times you can send blessings to friends and strangers. You’ve nothing to lose, and a lot to gain. Start by blessing yourself. “May I be safe, may I be happy, may I be healthy, may I live with ease.”
Then become a blessing machine and bless everyone you pass on the street. Even if you never leave your house, consciously send this to at least 50 people. Send this especially to people that you are in conflict with, or people that you don’t care for. Bless everyone!
Just bring them into your thoughts, bless them and keep passing along the love that you are. Write this down and put it in front of you so that you’ll have a constant reminder until it becomes a new habit. I know it will have an amazing effect on your life. What have you got to lose in trying this? More importantly, what have you got to gain??
Please post your comments below and share your experiences with us. We all need a little more love, and an easier path to walk some days. Let’s consciously be there for one another and do this together.
To you, my friend on the beautiful Sunday morning,
“May you be safe, may you be happy, may you be healthy, may you live with ease.”
Love and blessings to you, from my heart to yours.
Hugs,
Gail
Beautiful! Thank you for the wonderful message Gail.
Thanks for such beautiful positive meaningful message.
Gail,
Thank you. I have been practicing blessing for a couple of years now, and it has been life transforming for me. I am now going to adopt the mantra that you posted because it’s so clear and simple. I just love it.
Also, I don’t know if you know this but there is a beautiful book dedicated to this subject called The Gentle Art of Blessing by Pierre Pradervand. It’s a great read. Just thought I’d share. 🙂
Dear Susan, Phoenix and Lubabat,
Thank you for your kind comments. I’m glad you enjoyed the post. My head is still spinning with the possibilities of “What if” everyone did this… can you imagine our world? Wow!
I’m thinking of sharing this blessing, or one like it to each person when we deliver the 100,000 hugs on our Global Hug Tour. Do you know about this tour? If not- http://GlobalHugTour.com.
Thanks again for your kind comments.
Blessings and hugs,
Gail
“May you be safe, may you be happy, may you be healthy, may you live with ease.” Sending blessings to you, Gail! I did an RT of your twitter post. This is a real blessing to me, and very encouraging. I have lupus and try to share blessings through my poetry.
Dear Connie,
Thank you for sharing the blessing back to me. May this work on you as it did with CJ. May you be safe, may you be happy, may you be healthy and may you live with ease.
Love,
Gail
Gail,
Thank you so much for this amazing message. I believe fully in the power of our thoughts and words and I can’t think of a better way to use them, than blessing others.
Gail,
This resembles the principle of karma. Doing good in abundance unto others comes as a title wave wave unto yourself.
Will try this out!

whether it is a mind poweR??
Hi Gail,
it’s my first time here on your blog. Good to discover you.
Coming from a place of love and specially unconditional love always helps and it can bring about what we call miracles. Powerful post and thank you for sharing the story with us.
Wow, thanks! The same to you and all reading these words. What a fabulous thought!
Gail, thank you for this inspiring message about sending out love.
Yes, our world could use a whole lot more. What I have found is sharing is like a boomarang, what you send out come back. You blog and website has inspired me, thank you.
HI Gail-
