“How can I be more confident in life and the future?” ~ Gwen, Grenoble, France
Confidence is an inside-out issue, meaning that it first must come from within, before it can be truly expressed on the outside. First, discover the areas of life in which you are not confident.
Start by taking note of what things you do not have confidence about. For example, many people are not confident in speaking their opinions, and others do not feel confident in their appearance, etc. Write down a list of specific qualities that you would like to feel more confident about. Once that list is completed, then create affirmations specific for boosting your confidence in each listed quality.
Affirmations are a great (and easy) way to begin to transform the energy, thus building up your confidence. To go back to the two examples, an affirmation for speaking up would be, “I release all fear of sharing my thoughts and beliefs with others. I am worthy of being heard, and I now confidently express myself.”
An affirmation for body image would be: “I let go of all need to compare my body to others. I allow my body to be healthy and happy, whatever shape that may look like. I feel confident in who I am.”
In order for affirmations to work at their best, you need to say them consistently, until you truly believe what you are saying. Most of the time, I recommend saying affirmations 5 to 10 times, once or twice per day. 🙂
