While I have many teachers I am grateful for and whom I have learned priceless lessons from, I know that my own inner Guru is the most powerful teacher of all. When we begin to love and trust ourselves enough to tap into our intuition and Higher Consciousness, which has access to unlimited knowledge, we can truly begin to know and trust ourselves at a much deeper level and be the most powerful and trustworthy Guru we will ever find. There are many talented teachers, and I believe even one sentence in some cases from a teacher can in fact shift your life. Every one of us is different, and as we move through this life we encounter many scenarios where tapping into our own intuition will grant us the most powerful results. We do not have to look outside ourselves for answers – truth and guidance always reside within. It is up to us to take the time to connect with it. Here are three ways to access your inner guru:
- Silence Everything and Practice an Easy Sound Meditation – Turn off the phone, the tv, the computer, anything that might distract you. Getting absolutely silent is the first way to begin to tap into our Higher Selves and actually make it so we can hear our intuition! A quick meditation you can do once everything is “off” is to tune into your hearing. It might start off with the whirring of traffic or wind, then as you listen you hear sounds you were never aware of before. The more you quiet the outer noise and tune into the sounds of the environment around you – the more you will feel yourself relax. This puts you in a perfect spot for receiving information and guidance.
- In the Shower – We are often unconscious in the shower, going through the many tasks we will have to complete in the day to follow. Water is so healing and it is a perfect place for us to be present. There are no phones or people to distract us. Whether you choose to imagine the water washing negativity down the drain or decide to tune into just how amazing the water feels, you are bringing yourself to the current moment. The shower is also a positive space for setting those intentions. What do you hope happens that day? What if you simply asked in the shower for guidance and to be shown a sign during the day? You might even decide to ask for a message as you soak in the water and simply listen to the sound of the water and any new thoughts that come to mind. Your intuition speaks to you when you are relaxed and open. Doing any of these practices is a much more powerful way to begin the day and you will be amazed by the result.
- Feeling Energy – We are made of energy and feel it when we walk into a room if it is welcoming or uncomfortable, but we rarely take that time to tune into our own energy bodies. It is so simple to feel energy, and it is very relaxing yet empowering. Close your eyes and rub your hands together, palm against palm, quickly for 30-60 seconds. Now take your hands and put them a few inches apart, facing each other. Feel that energy between them. Notice how cool it feels and invite a smile in. See if you can move this energy if you move your hands apart and together. See if you can envision this energy moving to different parts of your body. When we are in this state we are accessing our own inner healing abilities and energy body. This is a perfect state to ask questions and receive guidance. We are relaxed, we are giving our energy body attention and we are quiet. All are optimal conditions for receiving guidance.
There are so many ways to get quiet and begin to notice your intuition and inner guru. I mention many more exercises in my book, A Short Path to Change: 30 Ways to Transform Your Life. Once we begin to tune in more regularly, it becomes common for us to receive and follow our intuition. Our soul thanks us for making this connection and taking the time to get quiet and our life begins to flow easier. Please give these exercises a try. I would love to know what you think. I am blessed to have manifested one of my dreams with the release of my new book and would not have gotten to where I am if I had not gotten quiet, gone within, and listened to my own inner guru.
