Imagine that earth is actually a school, a place where spiritual beings come to experience all there is to learn about life in a physical body. Your life is part of a series of lessons—all part of a curriculum you decided on before your soul entered your body.
Now picture yourself as that little soul still in spirit, patiently awaiting the next transport to earth. Your book bag is filled with all the tools you’ll need. But of everything in that book bag, the most important gift your creator gave you is your “phone home card.” It was tucked in your bag with instructions that if you ever felt alone or overwhelmed and had no place to turn for comfort, to just use that card to “call home.” Someone would always be at the other end to offer loving guidance through your life’s most difficult challenges.
So off you go. You are born into a body, but in the process, forget all about that phone home card. Years pass, and then something painful happens. Looking for guidance, you exhaust everyone and everything as you look for answers, yet nothing and no one eases your pain nor helps you understand the why of the circumstances in your life. It’s then that you remember the “phone home card” and use it. Suddenly, you’re not alone anymore. Now you have answers.
That is the essence of soul writing—the ability to access divine inspiration and guidance through writing. Soul writing can be used to take you to a higher place of creativity, or to a place where you can find answers to any question. That’s right—any question.
Soul writing, also known as inspired or guided writing, is not the same as its better-known counterpart, automatic writing. With soul writing, you enter into an altered state through meditation and prayer, seeking guidance from a higher consciousness. That guidance comes from a divine source, goes through your soul, out your hand onto the paper (or computer screen).
This form of guided inspiration is something anyone can learn. While everyone’s experience is different, those who master the technique arrive at the same conclusion: they are part of the chain of souls that make up this harmonious universe—thus, they are not alone.
To access this invisible source of inspiration, all you need to do is find a quiet place, breathe deeply as you enter a meditative state, pray and add white light protection, focus on your intent, put the pen down and then patiently await a response. Have no expectations. Do not try to control or manipulate the words. Allow the writing to begin and end on its own, without editing.
Thus you will begin a conversation with a higher source, one whose loving guidance will give you insight and perspective, along with solace and direction, for every day you are here in this school we call planet earth.
