“I feel like I’m being pulled in 10 directions at the same time, every day. How can I find the time to keep everyone happy, including me?” ~ Denise, St. Albans, UK
Dear Denise,
My biggest accomplishment is that I’ve learned to S-T-R–E–T–C-H out time!
🙂
But seriously… I’ve mastered a trick that gets me a few extra hours every day (and you can learn it too). It’s the only way I can juggle my professional duties as a surgeon, family responsibilities, managing a non-profit foundation, writing content for my websites, and more.
What’s the trick?
FOCUS.
When I’m operating, my focus is absolute. I ignore a ringing phone, aching legs, an itchy scalp, even a fire alarm, while I concentrate completely upon the job at hand – because a child’s life depends on it.
My advantage comes from extending this outside the O.R. Even if there isn’t a ‘life-or-death’ risk attached to it, you can imagine that whatever you’re doing is just as important – and decide not to lose focus until you’ve finished.
Nothing less than an earthquake should distract you!
Once you reach this point, you’ll see your day magically extend by a few hours – because you’re getting more stuff done, faster.
I get into more actionable steps in my short e-book, How To Focus, which you might find helpful.
