In my Brilliance, I talked about the importance of staying true to who you are, because that’s the only way to express your create genius and live fully! As we all know, we are in some uncertain times. I wanted to share a couple more insights that I feel can make a difference in the quality of your life as you approach this new year. If taken seriously , they will solidify an exceptional start, and create big momentum into the coming months.
It’s sad to say the story of the human race is the story of men and women selling themselves short. The average person settles for far less than he or she is truly capable of. The truth is we’re all extraordinary. We came into this world with more talents and abilities than we could ever use, but our potential is only pulled out if we can focus on our strengths, and start embracing who we really are.
The most successful people our world has ever seen have built legacies staying true to who they are. Jody Williams, Nobel Peace Prize Winner, was asked what her key to success was and her answer was simply: “Stay True To Yourself.” See? Simple, but powerful.
How do you stay true to yourself when you’re surrounded by friends and/or family that have an opinion on EVERYTHING you do? Who constantly offer their opinion, whether you asked for it or not? Who seem to imply they “know better”? It’s not easy! However, if you’re going to lead the life YOU really want, you’re bound to run into a few people who just won’t (or can’t) understand where you’re coming from.
I have carefully crafted 5 more tips to help you live a dynamic and fulfilled life. Enjoy!
Never Let Others’ Opinions Guide Your Choices: Stay true to yourself by tuning out the naysayers and tuning into the only opinions that really matter – your own and those from people who believe in and encourage you. Deep down you know yourself better than anybody else, and you are the best decision maker for your destiny!
Treat Every Person Like They Are Important: Why? Because they are! Respect others and you will learn how to respect yourself at a higher level. A pleasant personality is something that everybody can enjoy and draw energy from. When you judge others, you aren’t defining them – you are defining yourself. Most people don’t treat others how they would ideally want to be treated, so doing this will differentiate you at a high level.
Don’t Fear People: Stay fearless in everything you do. The reason most people don’t take risks, live on the edge, or push the envelope is the fear of what others might think of them. If you want to live the life you truly deserve, the one of significance and fulfillment, you must give up the need to be liked by everybody. Will Smith said, “trying to get everybody to like you is the most commonly chosen road to mediocrity.”
Value Yourself And Your CHOICES: When you do, others will too. OWN the choices you make in your life. When you doubt yourself, others will doubt you. When you believe in yourself, in time, others will believe in you too. Show confidence in your choices, and what you stand for regardless if others agree.
Focus on Gratitude: No matter what the circumstances are, no matter what card life deals you, there is always something to be grateful for. Focus on filling your mind with gratitude.
All successful people practice gratitude. The best entrepreneurs, parents, athletes, sales professionals practice gratitude. While most are worried about economic crisis and turmoil, the best ones ask, What am I grateful for? What are my opportunities? What’s good about the crisis? How can I improve my situation and use these tough times to inspire others? Stay focused on the good things instead of the negativity most focus on, and you will feel your motivation, happiness, and energy increase.
Much appreciation and respect to all of you who are staying true to who you are. You are exceptional, and the world needs more people like you. I challenge all of you to take some time to stop and examine your own life and start incorporating these principles into your daily routine on your journey to excellence. These steps, if applied, will help you transform your peace of mind, lifestyle, and overall productivity. Remember: The actions where the power of change and transformation resides.
