I believe in the possibility that comes from celebrating what is. I also believe that when we add expectation to the equation, magic happens and incredible things happen in our life.

Each morning we wake with a choice. We can choose to focus on everything that isn’t going right and stress over how to make things better, or we can focus on what is already right in this very moment and grow what’s possible from there.

Hands UpraisedWhen we focus on what’s not right, we often feel guilty, stupid and less than who we really are. It’s easy to beat ourselves up and forget we are magnificent, unlimited beings.  But, when we focus on what’s right, we feel grateful, fulfilled and unlimited. That not only automatically shifts how we feel but improves the direction of where we’re going.

The best choice is obvious, yet many of us still revert to the default mode of waking up running, rather than waking up grateful. Even if we have to consciously force ourselves to change our default mode from fear to gratitude, it’s well worth the discipline to do so.

As a child it was easy for us to set the intention of waking up excited or hopeful. Just think of Christmas morning or the first day of summer vacation. We would set the intention the night before, go to sleep expecting to wake excited, and that’s exactly what would happen. I can’t remember a Christmas morning as a child when I wasn’t anxious to bounce out of bed and enjoy the day. We’re all happy to get up early to head out for a summer vacation. Most times we wake on those highly anticipated mornings without an alarm clock!

That excitement comes from nothing more than a thought. These special days are a period of 24 hours, just like any other- yet it’s different because we choose to think that way. We’re excited because we choose to be excited!Picture 67

What if tonight when you go to sleep, you think of the gift of tomorrow as just that- a great big present that is just waiting for you to unwrap it. Close your eyes and picture a perfectly wrapped present, complete with a beautiful bow. Now picture yourself unwrapping it with joy and see what you want to appear inside this package as you unwrap this gift. Imagine your day unfolding in the perfect way and focus on what’s right in your world. Be grateful. Chances are, if you fall asleep with a prayer of gratitude on your lips, you’ll wake with a song of joy in your heart.  Just changing that simple thought can change your day, and can change your life.

You have the choice, to be grateful or not, to be excited or not, to focus on the good or not. Personally, I believe life is just more fun when we think of the good things, for from that, more of the good stuff seems to come our way. As for me, I’m off to envision my perfect day tomorrow. And WOW, what a great day it will be… all because I’m choosing to focus on the good things in my life and unwrap the present of the day with joy and excitement. We get to choose what’s in the package, and for today, you’re invited to join me to choose joy, happiness and wonder. I think you’ll be glad you did. 🙂

  1. Lovely reminder, Gail. It’s good to imagine what you can celebrate right now that’s happening in this moment. Many things are happening without your awareness. People are talking about how great you are, someone is eager to hire you, someone else is determined to feature you in their upcoming movie… What’s happening for you right now that you can celebrate?

  2. The power of positivity–I like it. So many negative things in this world, so many people putting you down. You don’t need you to put yourself down. Someone once told me to wake up and look in the mirror and say something positive about yourself. If no one else will encourage you, you encourage/empower yourself. And it’s true, when you’re positive in the inside, it will glow and infect the other people around you as well.
I’d like to share what I do daily http://budurl.com/fkm8 here as well =D
