Life has a way of dealing each of us a deck of cards that ranges in numbers and colors. Each and every day we wake up and pull a card and the day has been defined. There are good days and great days and sad days and unhappy days; however there is one thing that is is guaranteed – you have the freedom to accept what you are dealt or you can fold.

Over the course of a little more than four years, I had no idea what cards I would be dealt or that I would desperately need to find the Ace in my deck. It seemed that the only card I was dealt was a joker, and over and over again. My choice was to stay in the game and find my own internal strength to play to the end and see where that lead me.

I believe there will be moments when you feel that your challenges are just too much, but if you look around, you will see others who want to help you, shoulder your burden and give you respite and comfort so you can come back with the courage, faith, and stamina you need. There is so much to learn from others who have already played in the same card game you have.

The strength and power to overcome all types of adversity lies within each one of us – but you are not alone.

Most importantly, almost more important than anything else, is asking “What can I do for others that will make it a tiny wee bit easier to get through a similar life event? And how can I honor those who are gone?“

It is your choice how you deal with the life you have been given. You can wallow in it or you can choose to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and do something for someone else unselfishly. Or for yourself. Find what you are passionate about, get engaged, and before long you will only find the Aces!

The most important message I have for you is that “You are not alone.” Let us be your strength!

Judy O’Beirn has spent the last 7 years helping hundreds of authors become bestsellers in her role as president of Hasmark Services. More recently she has become an author and creator of a book of short stories, Unwavering Strength. She decided to write the book when her husband, Gerry, became ill with cancer and ultimately passed away from the disease in 2012, to help her channel her grief. In the two previous years before she lost him, she lost her mother, two sister-in-laws, her dog, and her daughters’ best friend all to the disease, and a brother years before that. Her goal of this book is to help others deal with loss in their lives. She has organized two golf tournaments to raise money for families affected by cancer and is currently planning the next one.

  1. Judy, I love your message. It is very inspiring. I had a stroke 3 years ago and am still in recovery. But I know that with believing in myself and surrendering to the higher power, I will heal fully. No pity parties for me. I wrote my fourth book Radiant Survivor (www.radiantsurvivor.com) last year to help others dealing with life altering challenges. Thank you for reminding me of my new purpose in life. 🙂

    1. Hi Erica thank you for your message of strength and inspiration also. And good for you for taking a very difficult medical challenge and making something very positive and inspirational!!!

    2. Good morning Erica you truly are an Ambassador of Unwavering Strength. And good for you for writing your story! You are so very welcome. I am honored that you took time to read my story.

  2. We all know how much our thoughts influence our life so to start the day “I’ll think to myself what a wonderful world”.
God will bless you all if you but ask.

  3. I have been struggling with insecurity issues for as long as I can remember. Your message reminded me of hope to find others that have overcome this and moved on focusing on the positive.

    1. Lupita, Do you think God made you to be weak? Where or why did these insecurity issues come to you? I believe there are answers to every question. Seek the answers and they will come to you. In the meantime, know that God, if he made you in his own image, did not intend for you to feel unworthy or lesser than (other names I give for insecurity). It behoves you to live up to your innate greatness. Focus on your strengths and your weaknesses will fall by the wayside.

    2. Lupita thank you so much for opening up and being honest about your struggles. And take comfort in knowing you are not alone, ever. You have your own special light to shine on all of us. And today you took a step toward letting us see how special you are. I am so honored that I was able to give you hope. Have the most amazing day.

  4. Judy, this is just perfect as I am learning to separate ease of disease from grace of Heaven. In exploring the 3rd creation when the first two lost exclusive significance, I realized that the 4th creation was published and out (Thomas Campbell, My Big TOE Trilogy)! As I believe that there are an infinite number of creations, I think that we perceive everything as what is actually Super-energy. The summation of this infinite series of different terms becoming possible is a lot different than the jumbling of the infinite sequence. That is my whole hand and maybe many others. Every individual has a wholeness.

  5. You are not alone ? well at the end of the day you are the one who has to deal with things, Others try to help and suggest things but then they are gone and you are still in a situation which drains you day by day until you do not have the energy any more. It is like living in an atmosphere low in oxygen. You may be lucky enough to occasionally get a gasp of fresh, well oxygenated air, but then you are back to the depleted air which is all you have daily.
