Money (Poem)

“Don’t touch that money, it is dirty!” A caring parent often shouts And then kids wonder when they’re 30 What their aversion’s all about.   “The money doesn’t grow on trees!” We’ve heard that once or twice before It’s there along with “Birds and Bees” Engrained into our very core.   We’re raised on phrases that inspire More fear than honor and respect Some are confusing, some are dire But all produce the same affect.   How ‘bout the following sensation - “Money’s the root of all the sin” This charming, stirring revelation Can really take one for a spin.…

School of HP: The Meaning of Success (Poem)

What is the meaning of success? And is there one true definition? Is there a universal test? Perhaps that ties it to ambition? Perhaps to money… or career? Or how the others view your choices? Is there a word that rings so clear That it drowns out the other noises… I would say no, avoid the stress There is no word that plays the master One’s definition of success Is but another one’s disaster Success is but a state of mind A state of calm and introspection And those who live it always find That it exists in every action…

School of HP: As real as they come…

Yesterday, during a seminar on intuition, Mel Doerr (our wonderful intuitive) guided us on a meditation. I relaxed my body, imagined a protective healing light all around me, and rose up into the ether.  My third eye started to pulsate, I was getting deeper into a trance-like state and then I felt my right arm tingle. It was as if my hairs were being gently brushed. I have had shivers down my spine during meditation before but never anything like this. This was very very real. It was so real that for a moment I opened my eyes to see if…

School of HP: And the future goes to…

We are always fascinated by the future. We gravitate to those who say they can predict it. We ask them to look into their crystal ball and tell us what's in store. We read Nostradamus and try to interpret his visions and transpose them onto the events of the past to see if he's accurate. We huddle around to hear stories of dreams that turn out to be true. Thinking of this I am reminded of a verse from Jesus Christ Superstar: ...Why should you want to know? Don't you mind about the future Don't you try to think ahead…

School of HP: The Universe is Here to Help! (Poem)

When fate says “Hi”, what do you do? Is “run and hide” the choice for you? Or are you willing to accept The change in order to adapt? These are the choices that we make The chances are but yours to take For Universe will show the way It’s up to you to seize the day We often wish upon the stars Protected ‘cause they seem so far We want the wishes to come true But they won’t work unless we do The Universe’s not there to please But it is also not a tease It will provide the tools…

School of HP: Listening to Those Who Can Help

While walking to work from the parking garage, I opened the door to see a little bird. The bird was desperately trying to fly outside and was hitting the windows as it tried one after another to go through. I opened the door and said, "Here, little birdie, here's the way". To my dismay, no matter how I tried, the bird wouldn't even look in my direction and kept on trying the windows. Finally, I propped the door open with a garbage can and left. As this was happening, I thought... what a wonderful metaphor for life. We keep on claiming…

School of HP: If it is Love it will Succeed…

All my life I believed in something greater. In searching for the meaning of my existence, I noticed certain trends and patterns in life that were woven in. Only later I understood what I had an inkling of before and the Law of Attraction and Universal principles were revealed. I realized that I wasn’t the only one searching and that there were many disciplines that attempted to comprehend the Universe as well as our place in it. I explored many spiritual practices diving deeper into certain ones. There are many out there such as Astrology, Numerology, Palmistry, Iridology, Past Life…

The Extra Kiss (Poem)

The extra kiss, that extra hug Your kids keep asking for at night. Their blanket isn’t very snug, And pillow isn’t feeling right   The water bottle you just filled Is great but still not cold enough, All prior wishes you fulfilled Get lost in avalanche of stuff.   “Don’t close the door, no wait… please do”, “You talk too loud, I cannot sleep”. And then a sudden peekaboo Just when you thought they’re counting sheep… A few more straws and you are done. You snap at them and raise your voice, You tell them it’s no longer fun, And…

School of HP: Astrology vs. Numerology…Who is right?

There is an old saying, “Once the student is ready, the master will appear.” I imagine you like me have found that statement to be true. Once we are truly ready to learn, then we all of a sudden “run into” a teacher or hear the information on the radio, have a friend who unexpectedly calls, etc. etc. etc. That is the way the Universe works.  The laws of the Universe have been explained in many texts throughout history and many disciplines exist to assist us with discovery of who we are and our place in the world.  Some turn…

School of HP: Take a Breath… (Poem)

Every day is filled with choices What to eat or how to dress, Everywhere we turn – are voices Re-defining our success. Heads are full of information Thoughts are flying at high speeds, Adding only to frustration Of not getting what we need. We are horses and the riders And we’re racing way too fast. If we don’t remove the blinders And slow down - we will not last. Just relax and do not hurry, Few times daily take a breath. Give that cloud of constant worry Enough time so it can pass. Even though we won’t admit it We’re…

School of Human Potential: How Can I Serve You?

One simple question can literally change your life: "How can I serve you?" I am using the word literally very specifically, so please allow me to explain. It all started with Neale Donald Walsch at the Celebrate Your Life conference sharing his belief that "your life is not about you...but who you touch and in how you touch them...." Whether you agree with that statement and to what extent is beyond this particular post. What is, on the other hand, is an interesting perspective and a question that occurred to me while thinking through Neale's speech. In our lives, we most…

School of HP: The Mechanics of Making Your Wishes Become Reality

If you have read any books on spirituality or listened to any teachers you likely have heard this statement before - in order to manifest your wishes you must be very specific about what you ask for, focus on it and then detach from it. It is with the last part that I always had trouble. I didn't understand in real terms why I need to let it go - until just awhile ago when it came to me. Let's say that you dreamed up a new concept for a car. You drew it on a piece of paper, thought for…

School of HP: We are all ONE! (Poem)

A people, standing face to face, Interconnected human race So much alike, all breathe same air… And yet they act like no one’s there They’ll feel each other’s pain and sorrow When tragedy occurs tomorrow They will unite and they’ll pull through… Unless they disagree with you They’ll feed the hungry worlds apart They’ll open up their purse and heart But mention politics and done…. They aren’t friends with anyone So quickly they forget the books That show them how compassion looks All that they ever seem to hear Are things that bring up only fear Why is this so?…

School of HP: 5 Things Your Body Needs To Be Healthy

Every time we go on a beach vacation, to Mexico for instance, we end up at an all-inclusive resort.  We love it because everything is taken care of. We don’t need to worry about cooking or what to do at night because all is provided. Just relax and recharge for a week or so and enjoy. Our kids love it, our friends love it, and we love it.  There is one thing in particular, however, that I found intriguing, which made me understand what the body needs to be healthy and in proper working condition. Here is how that realization…

School of HP: A 5-minute Shower Meditation

Looking to add meditation to your routine but not sure how to fit it in? Try this 5-minute shower meditation! Stand under the shower at a comfortable temperature for you. Let the water fall gently on the top of your head. Take note of your thoughts and your breathing. Allow your mind to slowly shift focus from the magnitude of thoughts running through it. Instead focus on the sensation of the water running down your body. Hear the sounds that the water stream makes as it first hits the top of your head, then as it trickles down. Focus on how…
