Just for a moment, think this one thought: I am an unlimited being. I have the power to be, do or create anything in my life that I desire. Anything. How does that feel? Like most people, you're probably feeling something like "yeah, I wish", or "if only that were true", or even "I wish I could believe that".  To some just saying this feels like we're lying. Some days more than others, we're able to see the possibility of "I am an unlimited being" really being a true statement. What makes the difference of not being able to say…

Spring Renewal- Starting Anew

Just a few weeks ago I found myself mentoring a client who had gone through a major loss and life change. While sometimes difficult, rebuilding your life after a loss or big change can also be one of the greatest opportunities in life. When we look to Nature, we see that rebirth and renewal are a standard part of life. And like the newness of the Spring, we get to start over with the wisdom that we've learned from our past experience of what works and what doesn't. Life is giving us a clean slate to create anew. I've personally…

Quick, Before it Melts!

If you want to learn the greatest lessons in life, pay attention to Mother Earth. Nature has a way of showing us the things we need to learn, including the inevitability of change. Springtime in the Rocky Mountains is the perfect example. Just yesterday we had the biggest blizzard of the year- more than two feet of pristine white powder blanketed our world. The day was dark, cloudy and overcast as we were buried with snow. Today, spring is back, the sun is blazing, the temperatures are soaring into the 50’s AND we still have tons of snow covering the…

Let’s Pretend

This morning I talked with one of my good friends, Lori. She was telling me about a great new plan that she had for her business. The excitement was palpable and grew exponentially as she shared her enthusiasm. Then suddenly she stopped, and said, "Well, that's what I'll do WHEN I get a sponsor." Enthusiasm gone. Excitement killed by logic. We all have dreams. We all have the same voice inside telling us why we can't do our own specific dream. What's the biggest impediment stopping you from your dream? If I had the money… if I were younger…  if…

86,400 Seconds

I'm writing this to you from the farm in Minnesota where my husband spent his childhood. We're here to celebrate the life of his mother, who passed away a few days ago. My parents are both still alive and thriving, but the loss of my mother-in-law has hit me hard. Everyday someone's parent or loved one dies. We experience it all around us and almost become immune to feeling sorrow because it's such a normal part of life. Until it's your parent or loved one who passes on. Then the world as we know it stops turning. Bits of the…

The Reward is in the Effort

GUEST POST FROM SOPAN GREENE Gail has asked me to post to her blog, as she's with family in Minnesota. Her mother-in-law passed away a few days ago. Gail will be returning to the office next week. In the meantime, I wanted to share this with you in the hopes that it will move you into action on your dream. In working on the Global Hug Tour over the past few months I’ve seen amazing things happen in very short periods of time.  Most of this is from Gail Lynne Goodwin being a ‘generator.’ She is always generating and producing…

How Are You Going To Do That?

Most people believe that they haven't reached their dream because they don't know how to do it. The bigger the idea and the dream, the bigger the HOW! For many people, just three little letters H-O-W can become a gigantic mountain in the path. In May, my husband and I will depart in a small prop plane, to fly 31,000 miles around the world, stopping in more than 45 cities in 41 countries to deliver at least 2,000 hugs per location- literally wrapping the world with 100,000 hugs. On this Global Hug Tour, we’ll gather inspiration and share an estimated…

Life Below the Surface

Being in a sailboat in the middle of a stormy sea isn't my favorite thing to do. Last week I was sailing in the British Virgin Islands during a very windy day at sea. We had to cover nearly 15 miles, with the seas averaging 8-11' swells, complete with huge crashing-rocking-and-rolling waves and high winds. We had our friends Arielle and Brian with us on the boat and although they were great troopers, there came a point when it wasn't as fun as the first 15 minutes in rough seas. At some point the waves were bigger than the boat.…

Abundance

I'm writing this to you from our sailboat, appropriately named Abundance, in the British Virgin Islands, to share a lesson I learned today from the ocean. This afternoon I spent about two hours walking alone on my favorite beach, Flash of Beauty beach, on the remote island of Anegada. I was walking a deserted stretch of beach looking for treasures- seashells. This specific beach holds great magic for me each time I visit. Not only is the beauty unparalleled, but there is a special energy I feel when I visit here, almost as if this beach talks to me. I…

Playing for the Yahtzee in Life!

Yesterday we had very strong winds that kept us boat bound in the evening. It was almost like curling up by the fireplace on a cold winter night. Almost. Except for the continual rocking of the boat. We spent the evening playing cards and Power Yahtzee on board the boat with the family. I've played Yahtzee before, but not Power Yatzee. My son-in-law, Josh, who brought the game explained the rules to us throughout the game, as it required more strategy then just plain Yahtzee. He said, "Remember the name of the game is Yahtzee, so that's the goal each…

What’s Your State of Mind?

Let's play a little game of word association. I'm going to say a word and I want you to think of the first thing that comes into your mind. You folks in the northeast are really going to enjoy this. Are you ready? Just after you read the word, close your eyes and feel the feeling… okay, ready? Here's the word… summer. Are you smiling yet? I'm writing this on an airplane, flying to the Caribbean. I couldn't help but notice the screen on the in-flight monitor of my Jet Blue flight, advertising Orlando (visitOrlando.com). The slogan of their ad…

Global Hug Tour Launch Date Changed to 9/09/09

The past month has been a difficult struggle between priorities and commitments. About a month after we announced the launch of the Global Hug Tour, leaving in May of 2009, my daughter Carly informed us that she and her husband are expecting their first child. Woohoo! I'm going to be a grandmother! That's so cool! We’re elated, as this is also our first grandchild. However, the timing created a quandary for us, as the baby is due in late August, a month before we were to return from the Global Hug Tour, previously scheduled from May-September. This is my only…

Take Action on Your Dreams!

I was privileged to recently attend the filming of Beyond the Secret as a guest of my friend Marcia Weider. We are proud to have her as the luminary today on Inspire Me Today. When you read her Today's Brilliance you’ll see how she helps people do the most important thing possible- live the life of their dreams and get into action. This was also the key message I saw being taught in ‘Beyond the Secret’.  Taking action is simply the most important thing you can do to improve your life. Without taking action you’ll find that year after year your…

Serendipity

One morning a few weeks ago I made a list of three things to accomplish that day. The first was to find a way to connect with a large corporation, the second was to connect with a major non-profit and the third was to resolve how to do a joint venture with a mentor I'd never met. I thought about ways to make these things happen and not finding an easy solution, I put them aside. I went about my morning, taking baby steps toward my goal as if the three things had already happened. Within two hours I received…

Belief, Fear and Success

Do you ever have one of those mornings when you wake up scared? Scared that you don't know how you're going to do something that needs to be done? I think we all share this from time to time. That feeling of uncertainty, that fear of the unknown, that discomfort with stepping outside of the box we’ve been living in for so long. We say we want change and that we want to play a bigger game. Well, along with that comes unknown territory, and along with that comes fear and trepidation. It’s our body’s survival mechanism kicking in to…

Want More Friends? Be One First

A few days ago I had a new contact on Twitter send me an @ message asking how he could increase his number of friends. I found it interesting that his message was sent to me in all capital letters like he was shouting at me. It read, " I NEED HELP HOW CAN I GET MORE FOLLOWERS". I took the time and politely wrote several 140 character private messages back to him and recommended that he follow the folks listed as Twitterati on AllTop.com, that he comment on the blogs of the biggies listed in the Technorati top 100,…

Be The Change

Yesterday our 44th president was sworn into office. Regardless of who you may have voted for, I think we would all agree that something's going on in America. The air is abuzz with possibility and hope. For me, this is the first time I've witnessed people come together regardless of age, background, ethnicity, political party, gender or economic diversity. It's a beautiful time of hope for the future. For so long many of us have complained about the way things are, but did little to improve the situation. But things are changing. There's a new energy building. Everyday people are…

Gary Vaynerchuk Labels Global Hug Tour “Freakin Awesome!”

Yesterday I had the honor of speaking to Gary Vaynerchuk in reference to the Global Hug Tour. I'm at the Affiliate Summit in Las Vegas and Gary was the keynote speaker (check out 44:25 on the video link). In a room of thousands, during the Q&A section after his presentation, I briefly explained the Global Hug Tour and asked him for his recommendation on how to best share our story with the world. Gary's thought the idea was "freakin awesome!" and said he'd personally hug everyone in the room. He went on to say that in order to get…

Lessons from a Mountain Lion

Yesterday on the drive home from Nashville, across the prairies of Kansas and Eastern Colorado, hawks were my constant companions throughout the drive. Today, while sitting down to write some text for our Global Hug Tour, I looked out the window and saw a huge mountain lion about 40' away from our deck! We live in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, in Boulder, CO and although mountain lions live here, we've never seen one at our home. Seems Mother Nature is talking to me lately and I'm now listening. The past few weeks I've been swamped with the details…

2009- A Time For Giving

Happy New Year! As we enter into a brand new year, I'd like to share a short story with you in the hopes that it will remind you of what you already know. A few months ago I volunteered to help the homeless. As we were preparing goodie bags to distribute, a young homeless man walked in. He was ragged, thin, unshaven and looked like he'd had more than a few rough nights. We assumed he was here to ask for something from us. He approached our group, smiled, told us his name was Josh and asked how he could…
