Live vibrantly. Now. As quick as you can! Our existence on this planet is for but an instant – the strike of a match, a quick burn, and then it’s extinguished never ever to be reproduced in exactly the same way again.

For the brief moment that is your mortal life and you have a choice: The flame that is your spirit can spark a blazing fire, giving light to the world, heat to the people, and spread wildly into something vast and eternal. Or, it can swiftly fade and fizzle out, back to the nothingness from where it came.

The beauty of life is that it’s designed to be entirely our choice. For its part, the Universe doesn’t care and leaves it completely and utterly up to us. No pressure, no expectations. You’re provided a blank canvas on which you can choose to paint. Or not.

As you consider your potential in this life, the truth is that you already know deep inside that you have the seeds for something fantastically great. Too often we do not listen to that truth because we’ve gotten caught up in the “little things” which exist to distract us and have us fall in line with the status quo; the place where flames are sent to struggle, smolder, and die.

Only those that are willing to listen to their inner truth can begin to unleash their potential, resulting in the discovery of happiness and the seemingly luck-driven creation of the fulfilling life they deserve, and that we can all have.

Greatness is something that is inherently unique for each of us. It may mean finding a better way to help people. Maybe it’s launching a business venture that will address global challenges, or through the creation of an artistic masterpiece – a song or a painting- unite humanity by creating deep meaning for people across the globe.

The point is, without the deeper meaning associated with our drive to do something great, life quickly becomes boring. It’s through that stagnating boredom that people turn to drugs, gambling, or other false flames to get the high we all so desperately seek, when the whole time it was available free for the taking… through our very own dreams.

Consider making the commitment right now, at this very moment. It doesn’t matter how old you are, where you live, whether you have means or not. What matters is that you’re full of life, right now. Your flame is burning and wants to ignite the world.

So go ahead and get lit! Your only regret will be that you didn’t start sooner. Through that very journey you will discover your own unique greatness. And it’s at that moment you will look back and see it was the journey that counted most of all.

Failing out of college after one semester, Adam von Gootkin chose to embark on an entrepreneurial adventure that has traversed e-commerce, muscle cars and the music industry.

His ancestors were arrested in 1864 for tax evasion on a shipment of moonshine bound for Canada, resulting of the collapse of Chafee & Co Distilling. Undaunted by their demise, the family opened the grand Chafee’s Hotel in Middletown, Connecticut at the dawn of the Roaring 20’s, hosting an opulent and infamous speakeasy. Now, at 32 years young, he and his business partner have resurrected his family moonshine legacy over 150 years after its inception, successfully introducing the world to the first ultra premium all-American moonshine, Onyx Moonshine.

He has appeared on numerous national and regional media outlets, including Bloomberg, Fox and NBC, and hosted a regular radio show on Howard Stern’s debut radio station, The Rock 106.9. His book, "Living Proof: Onyx Moonshine's Journey to Revive the American Spirit" will be released nationally in Fall of 2015 with the goal to inspire other aspiring entrepreneurs to take the leap of faith and succeed in creating an entrepreneurial life.

  1. Very thought provoking! Well written it really hit my soul. I have been feeling this but your words help to make sense of my feelings. I cannot thank you enough for taking time to write this which makes a great difference in others as it has mine.

  2. Hi there, I want to agree with you. I am in the situation of having discovered a passion. For me to follow this passion is putting me financially at risk as well as my children. What about common sense. Sometimes there is no way to do something slowly and conservatively and that is the case now. I either need to take a big career and housing leap that will strain my resources and I don’t know how i will do it all 100% yet. I either have to take a big jump or continue on knowing there’s that brilliance I feel is for me to create – that I have journeyed so long to find; a solid desire that is real or keep things as they are. So what about practical matters? It’s another universe when there are children.
